Phoebe Friendly’s portrait

Posted January 17th, 2014 by Tynan Sylvester

And, the last of the lineup, Phoebe Friendly!

In other news, I’ve been working hard on the January release, which is healthy and on track. To see what I’ve been up to, check out the changelog.

I really like the pet she’s holding. Could you add it in some way, maybe for giving you some special kind of hints or something like that, for any storyteller?

  5. We call it Muad’Dib 😀

Yeah, I could put mice in. Though they might not be as friendly as this one, at least until we make a pet adoption system.

A bit oddball, but (presuming that is a polo) it seems a bit odd that her breasts would be contoured as such through her shirt – she’d have to pretty much shove the fabric into her bra, which I find a tad bit ridiculous.

On the other hand, I’m guessing it’s probably a skinsuit she’s wearing? Nothing against the portrait overall, of course. They seem like they’re really going to add a ton of flavor and personality to the game that a lot of other titles are lacking in. I hope this game turns out to be a success.

In the Post you say “last of the lineup”, will there be Portraits for Cassandras sisters?

  8. Konner Wolfe

When is the nuclear reactor going to be install in the game? Also very nick job on the picture!

  9. Some Random Person

    This looks really good.

Sorry, perhaps I’ve chosen too harsh a style in my comment wrt. storytellers. Didn’t know about the changelog, glad to hear progress is made. My point was, don’t overplay the storyteller part of the much bigger whole.

The stories DF tells (mentioned on Rimworld main page; bay12ers would bathe you in lava for heresy ;-), exist not because of presence of storyteller, they emerge from the combination of myriad of possibilites + randomness + player interpretation (tree falling in the empty forrest …).

Parameterized randomness is good, with a (pretty, really, all the images are very good in fact) face it is better, but it is only as good as the number of combinations the parts it is juggling with can combine in.

Also, if you won’t hardcode how the different storytellers work, and maybe perhaps make them “expressible” as a set of sliders, I would feel it as a massive WIN.

    @Sean
She doesnt look “just” friendly. She looks very **ckable to me ;-))))

The “space-rat” is a very nice finishing touch (yeah, biased, have rat pets ;-).

  15. Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it
was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any helpful hints for beginner blog writers? I’d genuinely
    appreciate it.

Feel free to surf to my website … acne

  16. Discomfort it that merely you can now create a blog and acquire as known as this? Its in contrast to youve said something incredibly impressive similar to youve painted a quite picture around an issue that you recognize nothing about! I shouldn’t sound mean, here. But would you actually reckon that you can get away with adding some pretty pictures and not really say anything?
