When trying to install a wooden floor over a wooden floor, the game says "The terrain here is already WoodPlankFloor".  Same goes with TileGranite, and others I'm sure.

Not much more to it!  Has anyone else noticed the same issue with any other characters with ' in their names?

This happened to me earlier.  While still a bug, you should be able to attempt to arrest them.

As requested:

Also attached my world.  You can find my save game here: http://tw.iownthiswebhost.com/Planeton.rwm

I only attached my world and save game because there are 4 major fires.  I'm sure you could reproduce this in developer mode, but it may have something to do with my stuff.

edit: video for great justice: https://youtu.be/nOTM8ojeEdg

edit2: Same in 10b.

Bugs / Version 10 - Fires causing severe global lag.
April 16, 2015, 01:40:25 PM
In 9e, fires would only cause lag if you looked directly at them.  Now, if there is a fire (or multiple fires in my case), the game crawls to a halt, even when you're not looking at them.  This isn't even like the fire bug in 9e, this is something new.

Evening,

I attempted to make a Grand Silver Sculpture today, and the colonist that was putting the materials together worked tirelessly to get all the silver on the table to create his master work of art.  Except, all the other colonists knew that the silver on the ground was out of place and kept hauling it back to the stockpile.

It didn't occur to me what was happening until he was in a terrible mood because he was tired and starving.  I caught him just in time.

All I had to do was make sure the other colonists had hauling turned off.  After he hauled the 3,000 silver or whatever it took, all was well.  He ignored daily eating/sleeping duties until the bench was full of silver.

Bugs / Re: Massive lag from fires.

Not for me.  It just appeared somewhere in my playthrough.

G'day.

Just started a new world/colony, and I cannot place one of my geothermal generators over a geyser because there is a marsh in the top-left corner of the placement area.

Is this an oversight?  A random chance?  Expected?  :)

Here is a video detailing the differences in the fires being experienced by OP, myself, and others:

Attached to the forum post is my save game and world in question.

This is happening to me as well, and only as of yesterday.

These are my screenshots: http://i.imgur.com/kGwYrpp.png - http://i.imgur.com/zT5NYCU.png

Fire used to be a sprite, but now it's practically invisible except for the glow and the smoke, and it causes some EXTREME lag.

I attempted to create a new colony on my existing world and blow up some boom rats, and it's still like this.  I'll post again after creating a brand new world to see if that changes things.

EDIT: After creating a brand new world and a brand new colony, fires are back to normal.  I'll see if I can make a video.  http://i.imgur.com/n8ZCF1d.png

I wish I could agree with you, but the power went off in my house. I don't control the stability of my local infrastructure.

But for the game to corrupt my save files alongside my world file during an unforseen interruption of data use, is pretty bad. Especially since I was able to reproduce this.  This is a game limitation, and yes--I know it's an alpha...which is why I am helping by posting about a potentially game breaking problem.

Other games warn you not to turn them off while saving, because something like this can happen. This did not happen during a game save, this happened while the game was in use.

Just in case it happens to anyone else, all I did was back up the world files and my save files before I started playing. I just did a forced restart during gameplay, and after attempting to load my colony save, the black screen was back with a vengeance.

After deleting the corrupted files and replacing them with my backups, all is well.  I might post in the suggestions about an automatic backup at game start.

if you supply the command to rest until they will stay in there until they are healed. If they get into the bed on their own volition they will jump out.

I had a power outage in the middle of my game, and when I tried to load my most recent save, it would bring me to a black screen. I even tried restoring to autosaves, and every single one brought me to a black screen. Sad that I was defeated, I tried to create a new colony on the world that already existed, but the game did nothing.  No dialogue boxes, no errors, no crashes--just clicking the button.  I got to thinking: how progressive is the world map?  Could there be a backup in case something like this happened again?  Does the world map actually change alongside your save game/colony?
