I dont know how to debug why RimWorld using 100% of one thread, but htop show me 100% cpu usage. This isn't good.
It might be that it needs all 100%
Rimworld isnt optimized for multiple cores.
Is the performance poor? Why shouldn't the game use a whole CPU?
If you have multiple threads/cores, you can set up a game to use a specific thread to maximize performance. I believe its called Core/Thread Affinity. That way you can put the game on a different thread/core than the first core/thread, which is the core (first core) that gets all the work first then delegates tasks to the other cores.
I'm running a Quad Core w/ 2 threads per core @2.0ghz w/ auto-overclock to 2.8ghz, and I can run the game just fine. The only times I get massive slowdown is when using x6 speed, having 40+ colonists, or having WAY too many tasks for people to do.

Performance is good, but cpu burn to hand after 30 minutes game. I have this only on Skyrim after 2 hours play.
