Maybe your kitchen is really far away frim their job place? Before they get to the kitchen they go insane.
Maybe they are drafyed? Colonists dont eat or sleep while drafted into military service.

Regarding traders - without cheating - no.

Why then they can haul it for butchering and cooking, but not to store in stockpiles?

Maybe also allergy to stockpiles?

It's already hard to find new colonists since Alpha 3 as I stated in this thread: http://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=3337.msg31765#msg31765

And it's even harder to sell a prisoner who could be a valuble member of the colony, but someone who pees himself when he's told to blew out a candle simply has no place in this world.

As of general trader - player will still need to wait for him.

As of debris, with A4 you will be able do refine them.

As of dead bodies, You can burn them with molotov and with A4 crematories will be introduced.
