Some of my favorite games are:

Hi, I am Poh, a guy.

Who introduced?
I got to this game by a Let's Play youtuber that I followed, TheBudkai.
My Usual Games?
I usually play strategic games, but my variety varies a lot, like Dirt 3, Agarest and Mount and Blade are some to show how wide it goes I guess.
Anyway, Arma 3, From the Depths, Shogun 2, Gratuitous Space Battles 2 are some of what I am currently playing.
Also looking into getting StarDrive 2 as of now.
Most embarrassing history?
Uhmm, that would be my first attempt at a computer game at my relative's house, where I was just literally pressing the hit button no matter where I go, causing the whole house to break into laughter.
Cereal?
Well, Its been a while since i ate those, but I will have to go with Koko Crunch, if anyone knows of that...(Singapore)

Its nice to meet everyone! :D
PS: Any idea what's the serial number of the Name in Game is for?

Diarmuhnd

Hi. I've been a stalker while playing this game, never posting, only reading and whatnot since A5. When the site went down recently it made me decide to register for some odd reason and voila... taa daa I'm now the newest member .

q-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

a-I was bored out of my tree with all the games I was playing at the time and a friend in vent said she'd been playing RimWorld off and on and that it was in beta and that she liked it. I thought she was joking around with me and was trying to con me into going to some weird pron web site... until she told me to youtube it, I did and saw it really was a game.

q-What's your favorite other game?

a-Emperor of the Fading Suns (really old 4x video game, though there was a pen and paper roleplaying game as well). The reason it was my favorite... because I could invade Holy Tera and blow the hell out of the church. Plus all planets were wrap arounds and there was a crazy plot with crazy factions and crazy aliens and crazy units and crazier techs. It really stuck in my mind.

q-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

a-met a "gurl" while pvp'ing in a mmorpg a few years back. Was invited to the pvp guild, met in vent, found out we both had a luv for 'cyber' and then discovered we lived in the same corner of hell (city). Decided we should meet for drinks, and voila turns out that was the single worst thing I could have done. She lied about the one most important thing to me... age. I never ran so fast in my life.

q-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

a-back in my college days i would have answered, "anything with alcohol in it" but now I would say it has to be leftover general tao chicken or frosted flakes with a few extra tablespoons of sugar.

Bio: I'm an old chaos mutant who's been playing games since before "Pong" and I luv games sooooooo much that once the police crashed into my house with guns out because a neighbor thought someone was being murdered next door. That was intense!!! It was 4ish in the morning, my window was wide open right next to where I play and I was in teamspeak while we were pvp'ing I and heard nothing until I turned my head wondering what that movement was out of the corner of my eye and nearly dumped in my pants.
I will play games until they nail my coffin shut!
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

UglyGeezer

Hello there guys.

My name is Lee. This feels slightly daft, but it's a real honour to be here and be witness to the development of RimWorld. I'm a self-confessed thicko, so looking forward to get stuck in (but may need help).

UglyGeezer

Oh!

And as I am here, would any of you lovely people be able to recommend a tutorial that could get me started please?

Cheers guys.

gusza

Hi Everyone,

Gus from South Africa here,  great to be here and see development in action.    Network security specialist by day and sometimes by night.  Science, games, electronics and fishing in the spare time.

I was introduced to RimWorld by a friend who gave me a copy of the game thinking I might enjoy it.  Yes I know piracy is wrong but have been burnt to many times lately on kickstarter/early access games to not try before I buy.  But boy was I surprised,  I was blown away by the complexity and fun of the game and have not been able to put it down since the weekend.  I happily bought a name in game today and have already suggested the game to a few friends who will love it and buy it.

Favorite games is like asking favorite music.  It all depends on the mood I am in.  Strategies, simulations usually keep me going the longest but there is something satisfying about blasting someone away in a FPS.

Too many stories to tell of games lost due to my own stupidity,  that's how we learn though.  Kerbal Space Program I'm looking at you.

Muesli, yogurt and an apple for breakfast.  Oh and my cuppa coffee.

Regards,
Gus

Scraptrader

Hi,

my name is Michael and i am from Austria, a friend who followed Rimworld since Kickstarter brought me here.
I usually like base management, tactical and RP games like XCOM series, JaggedAlliance, Masters of Orion2 and Dragon Age: Origins.
The best stories i experienced were in Wow and mulitplayer in general, so many i forgot probably most of them.
Oh and classic creals are best.

My UN is, obviously, Facepunch. its a bit of a story from almost a decade ago about how it happened. I'm 14, 15 in July, been here and there on/off.

-What introduced you to RimWorld?:
Well, in the group I play ArmA with, the medic, Obie (He's a SWAT medic for a living), was taking us through the TCCC handbook on medic training day, and suddenly he yelled out "Oh, Jesus! I shot shot that guys lungs out!" and then "That one looks perfect for harvesting organs from!". He was, of course, talking about Rimworld.
-What's your favorite other game?:
ArmA. All the way.
-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?:
In ArmA, I was flying a helo, a Huron instead of my usual pawnee. So, I was doing stunts meant for the much more maneuverable Pawnee. I missed the ground by about half a foot, dove under some powerlines, and pulled my nose up sharp. The pawnee flew in behind me, slammed into me before he could react, and killed 24 people. Our combined wrecks stayed in the air just long enough for our fixed-wing CAS pilot trainee to join in and hit our demolished vehicles. All 3 of our twisted wrecks hit an infantry squad and killed another 6 people. Thats like, the whole damn server. And it was my fault. That was pretty embarassing.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?:
Sugar crisps.

Hey, I'm a gamer girl from New England, and huge lover of indie games with depth and replayability, (Doorkickers, Starbound, Dungeon of the Endless, Darkwood, etc.) and came here after seeing a play through of Rim World by Splattercat on youtube.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

Splattercat's Let's play series of videos where he featured Rimworld. I was looking for something similar to Dungeon of the Endless with more depth and this game seems to fit.

(Speaking of which, if anyone happens to know the name of the seed and starting location Splatter cat used for his videos I'd love to find out.)

As for this type of game, I've always enjoyed gameplay or fancy AAA graphics, especially when the depth/length of play often exceeds those of triple A titles.
-What's your favorite other game?

Doorkickers is another fav of mine when it comes to Indie games, although Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas are the ones I have the most hours in so far (a couple thousand hours in each, easy.)

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?
The time I was showing several Oblivion off to a friend of mine and generally running around having my character sow chaos and mayhem by placing bounties on hapless NPC civilians and pretty much turning the market into one giant brawl sprawl and killing essential NPC's by setting them to non essential just to prove it was possible. It  was great fun, right up until I quick saved over my main campaign progress.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

Honey almond crunch hot oatmeal is my current fav, although cap'n crunch of Fruity Pebbels are good for those mornings I need to start with a sugar rush.

CheckSix

Hi, just got this today, and haven't played it at all (finished work a little while ago and am exhausted, so bed time). I'll check out some YouTube walkthroughs at work tomorrow and have a go then.

I'm an old fart from Sydney, a Security supervisor by trade. I enjoy many types of games, and colony building is one of them. I suspect I'll become addicted to this pretty quickly.

MeowRailroad

My name is MeowRailroad.
I found out about RimWorld from a friend.
My other favorite game is Trainz. (By N3V Games)
I don't know an embarrassing story, but sometimes in Trainz I spend 10 minutes trying to do something to something else with the wrong tool. (Track and splines have similar tools.)
"Breakfast Cereal" is quite a relative term.

This is like being in a remote fishing town in Libera and asking, "Why can't I just pay one of the fishermen $10 to take me back to Los Angeles?"

Dragonisser

Well my name is Dragonisser and im 18 years old.

I can program Java even though i never learn it (modding ftw xD).
I like to draw(anything) and to play/mod games, also i'm a Brony if you maybe notice.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?
My brother was the one who introduce me to the game, while we were on vacation(crappy linux laptop ;_;, thankfully it works on windows :D)

-What's your favorite other game?
I dont really have a specific genre for games, so yeah.
- Team Fortress 2
- Minecraft
- Terraria
- RimWorld  ::)

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

On the first-time caller line, we have...Nick calling in from Idaho!  Welcome Nick, you're on the air...

Hi everybody!

Longtime listener, first time caller.  Figured it was about time for me to jump into the conversation(s).

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

I seem to recall I was just browsing about on Kickstarter looking for interesting projects to back, and this one jumped out at me.  This was probably in part because I'm a huge SPAAACCCEEE guy and the idea of a game based on surviving on a hardscrabble world at the periphery of inhabited space sounded neat.

-What's your favorite other game?

Ooh... Probably Half-Life 2 I guess?

It's kind of hard to say, I don't really rank games in some sort of sequential order from most-favorite-ist to least-favorite-ist so much as games cluster together in my mind along a bell curve with very few falling onto either the "OMG AWESOME!!1!!~!" or the "What a pile of crap" ends of the spectrum with probably about some 80 percent of everything landing in the broad "It was alright" middle area.

So with that in mind a few other examples of the "OMG AWESOME!!1!!~!" outlier range include, but are not limited to:

-Mass Effect 1
-Final Fantasy 6
-Homeworld
-Fallout New Vegas
-RimWorld  :P
-Minecraft

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

Nothing specific I can pin down off hand, but in general the whole experience of playing Ultima Online circa 1997 as a 10 year old was pretty shameful taken altogether.

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

I...don't eat cereal, sorry.

Honestly the idea of someone sitting with a bowl of milk that has little starchy...things going soggy in it while the someone in question slurpity-slurps this swill down kind of makes me queasy just thinking about it.

That's just one of my things I guess.

Anyway to cap things off I don't have any silly images, but here's one of my favorite SPAAACCCEEE pieces:

EDIT:

PS, for those who are interested my real life job is a machinist.
Hi everybody!
