Resolved by updating to 1.0.1959

Circumstances - Opted into unstable build via Steam.

What happened - Regardless of method of launch the rimworld loading screen briefly appears (5ish seconds) then becomes a black screen with error logs overlayed in red. Window becomes unresponsive to clicks. If left alone log enough the entire application is listed as "Application Not Responding", the rimworld logo fails to appear on the task bar, and I have to force the application to end.

Steps to Recreate - Launch Rimworld - either from steam or from the executable (32 AND 64 bit versions). Observe failure to load. I'm sorry, I don't know what additional information to give you here - obviously the game is working for others just fine.

Troubleshooting/background - I uninstalled/reinstalled the game - no dice. No mods enabled that I can tell(? I'm not sure if they carry over as enabled when the game is updated.)
I do have a backup of B18 in my steamapps\common folder but this shouldn't cause an issue?

Please let me know if you need additional information.

When left to crash out, the log file becomes larger than 600,000 KB - notepad++ can't open it and I certainly can't upload it here. So I've attached a partial log under the forum 600KB limit. Please let me know if this isn't enough.

I'm way late on this thread, but I made a sheep that I think meets the qualifications. Man would it be cool to see it become a permanent fixture. I just uploaded it to the Steam workshop yesterday, but I've been playing with it since A15.

I'm having an issue with a texture. When I'm zoomed in all the way it's crystal clear and appears consistently. If I zoom out more than a couple of clicks the texture gets horrifically blurry. I realize this is because the game has to compress the images, but I have no idea what to do to fix it. It doesn't happen on other pawns native to the game.

Also, when I'm zoomed all the way out, as the pawn moves around the map they disappear and then reappear. Has anyone seen this before? How did you fix it?

I used the same images when I made the mod in A14 and they worked fine. I'm assuming something has changed in A16 that is causing these issues.

Thanks for any tips!

Mods / Re: [Mods request] Hauling cart

Hey! I'm actually working on something really similar to this to attach to cattle (and other large animals.) I hadn't thought of making a handcart but that's a good idea and wouldn't be much different than what I'm working on already.

YAY WE HAVE SHEEP BUTTS! That muffalo download helped! Illusion Distort was right, I had the textures folder but I pathed it wrong. I'm going to tweak the images a little and modify the behavior. I'll update the thread with a download link as soon as it's finished with a little guide. Thanks for your help!!

I've gotten to the point where I can get pink squares to show up labeled as "sheep". I can't figure out how to get the textures to load though.

If you want a good starting point you could begin by modifying the following files (make a back up  ;D)
Go to yourRimWorldinstall>mods>core>defs>
PawnKindDefs_Animals
ThingDefs_Races
ThinkTreeDefs
SoundDefs

When I started, I copied an existing animal entry in the xml and then modified it to create different behavior etc. Like I said though, I still have no idea how to get textures to work.

The xmls are pretty self explanatory. I downloaded the zombie apocalypse mod and the rugs mod from http://www.nexusmods.com/rimworld to use as a road map to find most of the important files. If I can get the sheep one to work I'll upload it and you can check out the file structure etc.

How do you use this process to add a new texture set? I made a neat little sheep (ripped off the alpaca design) and can't figure out how to add it to the .assets through the tool. Sorry if I'm missing something major and obvious...
