So I bought Rimworld a while ago. I got an email confirmation saying I had 7 downloads available. I downloaded A11 and that went to 6. So does this mean I can only upgrade to the next 6 alphas before I have to buy it again or something? Thanks for any clarification.
Not at all. You get every new build until the game goes final, and also every update to the main game after that.
The number of downloads is per build. It will reset at each new build.

Clarification: Your download count won't reset to 7 for hotfix releases. If you run out (which really shouldn't happen), PM Tynan and explain what happened. He'll reset it for you manually.
If your download counter runs out, send an email to
[email protected]. That address is checked every day (including weekends) at around the same time and is where you should send any purchase-related emails.
