What EONS is
Project EONS Project EONS aims to overhaul the gameplay of RimWorld to bring new culture and technological advancements to the game. You begin your trek with no advanced tech and must advance from the very basics of civilization, beginning in the stone age. Progressing through the ages, your citizens will learn how to create fire, forge weapons, create castles and other buildings, research advanced technology, and explore the world.

Steps we are going to take
Art first and Tech Tree Design for all era's
after all art is compiled and feature removal and adding we will make sure we have everything we will need
Collect and or create XML's and .dll's for features and additions we are using. [including permission and licenses.]
Peice these lovelys together into a working mod file broken into 3 parts if nessesary as to not cause to much problems. [Part 1 Agriculture] [Part 2 Tech] [Part 3 Assets] all 3 mods will be needed to run. if not all in one file.
Testing will Begin and alterations will be made to xml data to balance the mod out as to make it not Completely unplayable like random randy on Serious challange :D
after testing we will release the lovly v0.1 of EONS to the awaiting mass's in RELEASED section.
Testing will include first 3 difficulties of all Story Tellers.

Many of the things i am lookin for as key features in this mod are
Enchance resources such as Cotton > Cloth Corn = Cornoil = fine meal or for more advanced
Plasteel + Titanium[metal + coal in Industrial Factory forging] = Kevlar so on so forth.
the essantial start will be you can only grow berries and make basic sleeping spots and a research table of wood and work your way up the tech for a long time while fighting your environment and locals.
Things to make
Resources and their spawning locations for map or world generation
Custom Building types such as my inovative Castle Towers 3x3 9sq [Automatically Shoots Arrows in 1.5s intervals] and wooden tower 2x2 4sq [requires manned person to tell them when to fire fires in 2.5s intervals] and a 3 x 2 or 6 sq castle gate [which castle walls being 2 x 2 also made of different stone types and can be shot over by towers]
Many other features such as different furniture. i would like to have a system to where it replaces the old furniture once you hit a tech as to not cluster up the Architect menu. so if you hit the tech to get medieval furniture your primitive furniture is unmake-able and replaced.
sounds like a good mod idea. i really like the research table tier idea. with this i will deff try out this mod when its ready.
also, i would love to be a tester!

This is a pretty great idea. Have you seen The Metal Age (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=9020.0)? Sounds very similar. You could collaborate, or at least help each other out.
Well from what I've seen of the metal age it only does Technology mine will eventually have technology in it but it is more spread out from sticks to computer chips kinda mentality so im not just focusing on Technology but gear farming animal husbandy traps new tower-like turrets that fire arrows instead of shots :D lots of fun features. but we are still in the planning phase and thanks to a few new artists who know about the copper and bronze age we are adding a few new things in and removing a few others.

We are going to add each era until finished work in segments so its nice and simple. we got permission to use tools and assets from many other modders also so it should be easy.
Implementing things is easy.
It's testing, fixing, tweaking and balancing where all the time goes :)
The actual peicing it together probably wont happen until version 9

1 thing we are gona do later but atm dont have any way to start doing is see if we can implment some sort of script or code to limit the bandits gear to that of your own tech so if u bronze age all enemies will use bronze gear and below. so as not to be using wood bows and stone spears agianst ak47's and rpg's
It would also lead to Skirmish's such as Knight Archers and Spearmen vs the same setup and formations :D shields in front spears behind and archers rear.
it would be funny if you have a bow against a r4 charge rifle you would have to rush them
maybe like once per a age you get attacked by people with gear level one age above yours that could be a nice challenge but make it optional like diff download for the main mod with that and without it
as we're playing a 2D game what about a watch tower with "raised cover chance with on tile" only accessible via a "ladder"

U = non-accessible tile to allow "T-L" only access.
Leme make sure i got your statement right you are talking about an Actual "Raised" object that allows for firing over walls right. "correct me if im wrong".
At the moment their is no way to do a raise tile other then optical illusions which we are going to experiment with "ramparts" which are going to be half walls with transparent tops to "APPEAR" to be raised ground. but idk how it will look but... enough veering from the target comment, Its impossible to make a raised structure atm so having an arrow turrets and embrasures are the only way we are going to make our own embrassures tho.. for the castle age and bunkers for modern age too.

Well i can do the xml files, im still learning C# but i dont think ill have all the knowledge to make the dll to get the mod running. but i can give it a try with the current skill i have tho lol
We have help from other XML and C# users such as the lovely person who just gave us use and files for his trader's have visited your area. from his Cybernetic Storm mod :D and even if they cant we can always ask around.
Update. Berengar is currently in art mode working on our prehistoric images and artfiles for part 1 of the many part EONS mod sorry i havent been updating or talking at all sorta running map making for a small arma clan too :D much busy such editing.
i personaly think after you get like the second age done you should let people play while they wait for the next parts and release the parts one by on that would be nice

The Eons idea is very nice. I had a simular idea but i am a beginner at XML :D. Is it possible that you can choose between researches for the next age? For example you have 3/6 researches from stone age and than you get researches from copperage. So its your choice what you are researching. :P
This mod has been put on hold do to the loss of almost all my artists and a overall lack of intrest.

SOME UPDATE THING, I DON'T REALLY KNOW!
- Work will begin continuing on Project EONS most likely this weekend. (Mar. 6th-8th, 2015) The current team only composes of two most likely two programmers, but as of now, only one, and two artists - a mod of this size will take some time to be put together but it will be done in time!

After a little bit of work this weekend (it wasn't as much as I thought I'd get done), you may be able to see by the few help topics on the forums I've been posting that I've been making a bit of progress. Currently I've been working on the ancient era and I've decided that the mod will, as you probably expected, will be research-driven.
But, how you ask will it be possible for cavemen to research stuff?
I'll be adding a few new things with "ancient" things to them - ancient research table, ancient weapons workshop, etc... it might not answer your question but atleast it's a quick-fix for cavemen using advanced computers and electronics to perform their research. (I've been using the word cavemen a lot. Can you guess what era I'm working on?)
I will be reworking the entire tech tree (if there was one, I forget. Either way, it's being reworked) and there'll be a lot more interesting things to research - I think this mod will be about 2500% more interesting around the Medieval Era once religions are added into the game. (That being said, I'm thinking about researching "divine sacrifices" so you can burn your prisoners for favour with your God.)
TL;DR - I'm working on Ancient Era at last, I use the word caveman a lot, cavemen don't use computers and advanced electronics, I need textures for a wooden club, a sling, an ancient research bench, and an ancient weapons workshop. I can handle the rock projectile texture B). When religions get added (vanilla game, not mine.), you'll be able to burn your prisoners alive.

I really like all these images and stuff while i was away im still away tho i have lots of life things going on like moving into a new house job and all that i do intend to return to this project.. but as of now it probably wont be until 2 or 3 more builds... maybe a year.
OMG guys that is amazing art!
I did advanced computing in High School, finished it off at maximum level in College with a hardware qualification, so i know basic and advanced in C++, Java, Flash, HTML, Python and Binary, I also studied how to design and create websites, luckily the index file of a website lists all of its references and designs layout etc using XML so i have some moderate/low tier skills in XML language too. I also studied Advanced Photography in High School and im still in the middle of another degree in college for it but I have racked up 6+ years in graphic and hardware specializations. I was on a mod team for a different game and helped work out kinks in code but I had to leave due to college being a hard one. Im a little rusty on my code, im usually the tech support guy you know? thats what i specialized my education in. I'm decent on my graphics since im still using all the Adobe products nearly every day of the week but problem is im still in college, if you'd like whenever i can, ill try and help you out with the development of the mod but in a months time when the course breaks up for summer i can probably contribute a lot more time then.

could of sworn i gave the assets to someone else. but as it stands ive had 2 harddrive replacements [ssd's] since then and have no assets. i dont intend to work on any mods until the game releases. also have plans for a Fallout 4 [Fallout 1&2] conversion of Project Zomboid in the future too.
BTW huge fan of your zomboid hydrocraft. :D
