Is there a way to quickly see what the material you choose to use for walls or beds etc add or subtract in regards to modifiers? Like whats the difference between a steel and wooden bed?

Yes, click on the bed material choice, then click on the I on the left side of the screen to see detailed info. This includes things like health, flammability and beauty
