Hey all!
I'm looking for some epic screenshots to use in marketing the game. These will go in places like rimworldgame.com and on the eventual Steam website.
So I figured you guys probably have better shots than I can invent. So I invite you to post your best screenshots! Perhaps you have awesome action shots like in this story (http://imgur.com/a/zUcpo). Or maybe you just have an awesome base or funny circumstance. Bring it on!
Must-do checklist: In order for a screenshot to be usable it must follow this checklist:
-Map edge cannot be visible in frame
-Modded features cannot be visible
-Screenshot must not be downscaled (e.g. colonist names must be pixel-perfect)
-Put your screen in 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 resolution
-Don't process or crop the shot in any way. Don't add labels
-PNG lossless compression is ideal
Recommendations
-UI can be visible for some shots. Most of the time, you'll want to use F10 and F9 to grab screenshots with the UI off.
-Usually it's best to get nice lighting with sun shadows visible
-Avoid ugly UI elements like the "screenshot taken" text or the debug controls visible
-----------------
Also beware the legal notice below! Sorry I have to include it, but the company has to be secure in its ability to use the shots for marketing purposes.
Legal notice: By posting your screenshot in this thread you transfer ownership of it to Ludeon Studios, perpetually and for all purposes, without credit or compensation.
End of legalese; back to personal communication: I'm happy to credit everyone where I can! However, it often won't be possible. E.g. there's no easy place to credit you directly on a Steam page or on rimworldgame.com. That's why I said in the legalese that there is no credit - because Ludeon can't be bound by that.
Thanks everyone!
Without credit? that's kind of too bad.
But hey, if it means i get my pictures featured on the official website, it's all good :)

I'll clarify the first post.

Hooray. Also, are industrial hoppers from industrial rim allowed to be shown? They really don't look much different from the normal hoppers in the game, and I don't think anyone would be complaining about different hopper textures. :p
Here's a screenshot you can use. One with and one without UI.
The game is at day 175 at this point and we have just murdered a band of pirates.
Also: no turrets and no mountain wall as backup. Just a bunch of stonewalls that they can't get through.

I am using industrial RIM mod, but I don't think it shows too much.
Afther constant raiding my outer defences started failing. Eventualy I started putting all my recources into building these minor defences... But in the end I was just keeping myself busy. I knew it, the colonists knew it. The only purpose these defences provided was keeping the morale up, keeping our minds of what was to come. And my god...
Here they come, tribals as for as the eye can see. The white goose combo really came for me this time, afther I managed to capture 3 slaves of them last raid.

Knowing what was to come. King Counter speaks words of courage to his followers. Meanwhile the slaves are brought up to act as a way of negotiating a truce with these savages.

Mal reports in... she has some bad news, the frontlines have fallen. The enemy is at the gates! Counter: "This is it! Remember to save your last bullet..."

I could've just posted the screens, but a little story to it adds a bit of extra flair. :D
Those are awesome!
thats brilliant!
and darn, i wish i could get to my desktop from japan, i have some pretty cool shots of a fight going badly after they broke into my base, oh well...
This was one I took with my phone camera a couple of weeks ago to show my mate but still makes me giggle, where's operation yew-tree when you need it? :D

My best screenshots are of when Cleopatra got sick of me within one month and three days. xD every time as well. I've been wanting to do a hard mode story but sadly I have no idea how to defeat this so early in the game. I may try a fourth time or maybe try to find a way to modify the Storyteller (If I could I'd love to make my own storyteller, but I got no idea how to do that.) Anyways, enjoy laughing at the inhumanity. I got a third picture but I get the file too large error. Basically to the north is a giant mass of red name UI all in an enormous blob of death, no I don't mean Rosie Odonnel either.
Edit: Just noticed a guy's name is "Priss Day" in the raider names, I thought it was Piss Day at first.. Lol what?
[attachment deleted by admin: too old]
Don't let this happen to your base, RIP!
http://tinypic.com/r/rqys5v/8 (http://tinypic.com/r/rqys5v/8)
A massive raider-group was almost ready to start their attack but fortunatly (for my colony atleast) a large group of an outlander-town decided to pass by... They will regret that decision.
After a day of non-stop fighting the raiders fleed but the outlander-group stayed and shortly after the remaining survivors went insane. Nobody left the colony walls for 15 days...
@AstronauticalFerret, wow, you really pissed off Cleopatra didn't you! I've never seen that much red on a map!
Also, stupid question. How do I take screenshots? The print screen button only grabs the desktop, and pushing F11 doesn't seem to do anything. Nothing shows up on the screen, and I haven't found any screen shots in the game folder or the save folder. Help?
Oh, it's actually F10 to take a screenshot...

my first space ship ending victory game didn't end up nearly as happily =P
I had constructed most of the ship but still lacking lot of the cryo pods for everyone
then I got overwhelming attack
tried to evacuate everyone to the ship when people started dying but only two of them made it =P
so which one of them was captain of the crew there, in the end?
clearly bonnie, yelling orders in the back row =P

Boonie was the very first slave I freed. That rebellious 16 year old girl never seemed to shut up xD
I would say Anna got to be the captain, she had a hand for handling social matters and keeping the tribes at bay
But MVP was certainly Vere, her mortar shots were legendary! She broke at least 10 sieges all on her own. A chain reaktion of 40 pirate mortars exploding is a beautiful sight.
and Frankie... (a 17 year old coma child-navy scientist).... she aaalways tried to kill herself by walking into pirate armies and steal their metal. Just landet in a drop-pod in the middle of my colony one day, crying to be rescued
They mostly come at night. Mostly.
Is it just me or are allies more dangerous than the raiders?
Raiders have to work to get into your base and you can chase them off. Allies on the other hand just walk in, eat every scrap of food, go nuts, shoot up the place and each other, put two of your colonists out of action, then feck off leave dead bodies strewn about your main corridor to drive your surviving colonists to despair and a few dozen aimlessly wandering nutters who will hang about your turrets waiting for the first Mechanoid raid to detonate the turret catching one of the gormless ditzes in the blast causing their entire faction to become hostile and immediately launch a siege before you have even finished dealing with the Mechanoid...
or maybe that is just my bad luck. >.>

that blue notification pop up after a brief lagspike
They've been unable to reach my food stores so far in my current game (thank god) but them staying sane after treading through the piles of corpses and madmen wandering outside my compound is impossibility
some of the times they're polite enough to start their psychotic rage party outside
my area

I think the sheer value of the weapons they tend to leave scattered about more than pays for the food that they take.
Then you can sell the weapons for silver, then use the silver to get more allies and call them in when you're attacked, which gives you more weapons, rinse and repeat. ;D

My tiny little colony of 10 got invaded by dozens of them at once from each of my allies and they hung around long enough to start going crazy. The shear volume of stray fire as they killed off their own destroyed chunks of my walls, put 2 of my colonists out of action and left bodies clogging up the main tunnel in and out of my base meaning every one of my people had massive penalties not only going hungry, but also for seeing corpses, the hideous environment and being wounded and then the next raid happens...
My allies nearly drove my entire colony to breaking point in one visit ;.;
And they just keep coming X.x
Next time I want to pretend we're not home or put a lockable door on my mess hall >.>

They very often forget their weapon sitting beside the table while stuffing their face with the treats you've left unguarded

Oh! I've only ever kept 2-3 meals on hand specifically to prevent visitors from getting the munchies. Keeps my cooking busy when people are eating, and he can do other tasks when not cooking. But I guess I should ramp up meal production now! ;)

bit was about.
I was talking about getting the weapons dropped by all the dead people, because Lost Cause was complaining about them going crazy and shooting everything.
Though on that topic I know some people have made special trap rooms that have collapsing roofs so they can "harvest" stuff from their allies without hurting their relations.
I'm pretty sure they just make a room that's like 12x12 in size with a single pillar in the middle. Then you chop out the pillar and let the roof collapse on the people inside or something. I haven't tried it myself.
That's actually a pretty good idea. Keeps your foodstuffs safe, and makes a good raider deterrent too! Personally, I'd rather drop it from the outside or you risk losing the colonist in the collapse.
Poor, poor Tail. Shunned by all.

You know, I was thinking and I imagine there's an easier way. Just make special big empty rooms with only 1 entrance to each all over the place, then when your allies step into one of them, wall off the door.
They'll eventually go nuts or starve to death. Then you can just reopen it and take all the stuff.
Morbid, I know. ;D

This is my first colony on Alpha 6. It's turning out fairly well so far. I'm pretty happy with the modular design I have going.

From left to right, we have:
- Grow Room with 4 fertilizer pumps
- Food Room with raw food and cooked meals
- Work Room which will eventually contain 6 medical beds and a bunch of tables (research, butcher, stonecutter, slag refinery, machine, comms, crematorium, and 2 stoves)
- Power & Prisoner
- Bedrooms (south of Work Room)
I also scouted around with God Mode and found at least 2 steam geysers buried in the mountain too. Mortars are going to have a hard time hurting me! :D
I haven't taken any screenshots of the bodypart system yet, but I've had some hilarious things happen, like raiders running away in panic after getting shot in the stomach, and deer incapacitated from having two legs shot off. ;D

That was glorious. What would I give to try a killzone like that, but indoors and with a 1-2 wooden support pillars in the middle, so that the roof could be brought upon the invaders simply by shooting the pillars to pieces.

My kill boxes are built on top of my trade beacon stockpile. Makes it easy to sell off all the dropped weapons and gives anyone invading by dropping directly onto the beacon a nice little surprise when 18+ turrets instantly open up ;)

I love those concrete(?) paths coming out of the south entrance. I've never built any roads because so far I've thought "They'll just help the raiders get here faster" but now that I think about it, a few roads on few selected spots could still be far more useful to the player in the longterm than to any random raider patrol. Who knows, with roads one could potentially direct the raiders into predictable locations, which is the main component of any ambush or trap. The bigger the map, the bigger the incentive to put some roads, especially if it's desert (sand). Hmmm. Hmhmhm...

Those roads were to help my miners and haulers. It was a biggish map with almost no mountains at all, so my poor colonists had to walk a long way to and from the mine sites over vegetation and around obstacles. It's totally worth doing if your guys are consistently walking to a distant place on the map.
The colony looks the way it does again because there were hardly any mountains. Every building and every bedroom had to double as a defensive structure.

Pro-tip - treat them like sandbangs for cover, meaning have your guys stand against the
wall next to an embrasure so they do their "peak-around-a-corner" thing for extra cover. If they stand directly in front of the embrasure they'll get hit more often ;)

This was before creamation where i had a entire freaking factory and trading pad built for packaged human meat, i got to the point where i had to stop because everybody was getting mental breaks because of how many dead people i butcherd (that was also because i was putting human meat into their food). But on the up side i had a entire supply pad dedicated to moneys. Oh and another factory for regular food. The big bang mod pack was awesome
Back in A3, wouldn't that much fear have prevented mental breaks? I made a fear colony or two... good times. Traumatize people and keep 'em loyal forever!
(Fff. Screenshot too big.)
This is why you DON'T build colonies of colonies. I had a group of 30 colonists inside a mixed outside-inside mountain base and decided to wall off the entire outside area through a tedious process of layering stone.
Before that, I decided to send out three colonists and a MAI (mobile artificial intelligence). They set up nicely, had fertilizer pumps giving them decent plots, and two steam geysers (with a third on the way) fueled the outpost nicely -- although apparently the noble, Hammer, wasn't interested and left. With an abundance of silver left from many, many sieges, we decided to build silver walls blocking the west, and stone walls blocking the east and south, leaving the outpost penned in with a great deal of land. The prison was lavish, although without Hammer we couldn't actually recruit anyone and feeding was a harsh task of stockpile-nostockpile.
Then mechanoids happened.
At first I wasn't worried, I mean the two remaining colonists and MAI were well-armored and we had a light turret setup, enough to deal with 12 scythers and 5 centipedes if done right. They attacked the main colony wall first, making a few dents before giving up and attacking the silver wall, which they burned and smashed apart. The very first scyther to break the wall down was alone, so I sent a fighter with an AK and an armored vest over. He got maybe three shots in before the scyther cauterized his face. Next came the MAI, which worked in tandem with our turret system to kill 3 scythers before being headshotted and instantly exploding.
Well, shit.
It was left to Ben, the power-armored, military helmeted fellow with a P90 to kill 9 scythers and 5 centipedes. Naturally, I felt the best option was to lock all outer doors and use the small indoor stockpile of metal to pile turrets, and it actually worked, the merits of having a decent power grid. All the scythers went down to the turrets, three centipedes died horrendously, and only two were left -- a heavy charge blaster and an inferno cannon. Not liking the thought of charred Ben, I proceeded to run to the prison, and do what a good master would do.
That is set the two prisoners free, and by free I mean straight into centipede gunfire.
About when they managed to get to the burnt out husk of the main building one went insane and started beating the other to death, which was fine considering they were within firing distance of the mechanoids. A quick volley from both of them put an end to the crazy man's victim, who dropped writhing in pain before a stray bullet headed to his co-prisoner ended his misery. Ben managed to get two volleys of P90 fire into the inferno cannon centipede, but with no more bait, it was time to go. The main building destroyed, I decide to send survivor numero uno to defend himself inside the now empty prison, giving him some time to rest as the damaged mechanoids make their way over.
They actually didn't bother, holding a position in the remains of the outpost. Ben was going to starve if the fight didn't end fast, the stockpile being burnt to nothingness. In a last ditch effort to secure some kind of weapon that would do decisive damage (the P90 really wasn't cutting it) I sent Ben running for one of the miniguns dropped by the centipedes. He met face to face with his enemies, dodging a volley of heavy charge blaster rounds and an inferno cannon shell. Picking up the minigun, he turned his attention to the beings and..
The gunfire ensuing, missing horribly, took out the last support for their section of the outpost. The roof collapsed, killing all three. The end. Dammit, Rimworld.

my first colony that i have kept alive for more than a year without wanting to kill them (apart from comareio the big sook i should have sold or harvested him)
had this event happen twice within a month in game where all the doors explode and what ever is attached within 1 brick.

I like the cross fire here, lots of bullets flying around. For some reason the incapacitated Muffalo always makes me laugh as well.

It is always fun to have the Mechanoids attack, they just leave such a mess.
And this raider attack just looks more scary because it is at night. Special attention also for Axle, using proving a sword sometimes is more useful than a gun.

This folder contains my last attempt at escaping the planet. I started out with some dromedarys being slaughtered (I was using a mod, or are those in the game?) and a combat supplier came by and traded me 3 uzis. Much better! I had a bounty of iron and plasteel next to the base. I mined most of it, and built a huge hydroponics system, which didn't generate much considering what it costed. If I had survived that last attack of the 10 pirates besieging my colony, I would have been able to perhaps escape the planet. I was in a desert, and didn't bother with mountains (since I didn't expect I would beat the psychic drone). Know what was my most lucky stroke? That raiders came and attacked me with grenades, so that I could loot them and use them against the psychic drone. I had 2 frag grenades and 1 emp grenade. And I was using Immersive Rim 1.3.7, which probably improved the balance somehow (IDK).
A small but fully functional clolony overrunned by a mad herd of wild boars.

Foolish me! Thanks, clicking works.
These are great shots; I may put them on rimworldgame.com.
Thank you, I am a very good colonizer
Let me know if you want some more of my Colonies, but this is my first A8 Colony. Im still playing it, and could give updates on my progression
I want shots of anything awesome and dramatic that may happen. Ideally with and without the menu visible.
Sorry for so many screen shots. Take and pick what you like. My colony was attacked by raiders and mechs, the mechs won, so we hunkered in our bunkers, then hunted and killed them. We suffered some injuries, and there were alot of gunfire exchanged

My first winter colony:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12123197/screenshot2.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12123197/screenshot2.png)
Growing trees was the hardest part because it was only possible two month a year.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12123197/screenshot25.png (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12123197/screenshot25.png)
But I didn't like how this colony worked out because it didn't feel like a village in the tundra because of me having hydroponics and living in a mountain. So I dropped it.
So here is my second winter colony. This time at a slightly warmer climate but no hydroponics and not digging into the mountain too much.

Welcome to Rimton!
One of HeadofHydrusXIIs largest colonies, Rimton is a haven for culture and science. But don't let that fool you, nasty pirates, here in Rimton our walls are strong, and our turrets are mighty. Every one of our colonists is armed and ready to defend the colony tooth and nail, and our mortars might just tear you apart before you can even reach our gates.
But you, beloved guest are not here for an attack. You are here to tour our lovely colony. Well, allow me to welcome you, once again, to Rimton.

And, if you do try to attack us, remember the tale of Mushinto the hunter. Who thought he could out shoot our snipers and ended up with no more arms.

I especially like this one because it shows the last desperate fight in the corridors of my 2nd colony before the mechs took over and burned it all to the ground.
Unfortunately this was before I knew about the F9 to hide GUI, but I think the best parts are quite easily croppable if needed.
I just want to take this opporunity to say that I really really love the combat mechanic where they can hide behind walls and automatically lean out to shoot. It looks so awesome, and is probably the main reason I love this pic so much =D

Now I may be the minority here but I much prefer looks over functionality, which is why I make separate buildings for each purpose like jail, hospital, dining room/kitchen, housing.
And the lack of kill boxes just makes your defense front so much more dramatic :)
Jungles can be tough when it comes to vegetation blocking your sight and making it much harder to hit so I made a little concrete barrier to alleviate some of that.
If there is a remote interest I could post the entire colony as for now here is a little battle with one of the enemy factions.

My screenshots suck. I might get a photo of a late game colony sometime, but right now I'm too busy with my blog-ish colony thing.
My late game of 82 colonists...
I present 'EllisLag' on 3rd year. Wealth points is almost one million.
This was the end of colony since I feared that my pc couldn't handle the game anymore (74 *C on core temperature detector, my pc was burning even if it was not at its full power yet)
QuoteWe started from building west outpost and east outpost first along with central square and residential zone. In first year, everything was depleted. Mountain blocks, trees, animals, all were gathered for the good of colony. Not many traders and raiders messed with us. The colony was strong, you can walk in easily but don't you think that you can go out as easy as you walk in! ;D
(http://s3.postimg.org/thc5ymwbn/Ellis_Lag.png)
I hope in the next alpha, the game can handle 200+ colonists easier with less lag spike (every 1-3 seconds).
I finally managed to take a decent screenshot with no modded art assets!

Alright, I have some screen shots, (I don't know how to post or even find them on my computer, but truly, cant be that hard can it) The only 2 mods visible in them is of course Darkness, and the medical flower mod, Also, after installing a few other mods, a weird bug happened where the entire map became sand, so now i live in a desert, YAY! Even harder survival.
:l still can't find screenshot folder, anyway to change were it sends it?
If you're on Windows, it's C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld\Screenshots. I don't think you can change that.

My 1st base in this game.
Cassandra basic builder mode.
Spaceship ready to launch.
Had a great time with those guys, but i had to leave some psychopaths back on that planet...
So I started a Tundra base (wanted the challenge) and all is well so far.
Took a bit to get going, but it's stable now. Not having any growing season really messes with me.
I had someone randomly join, he subsequently died. Oh well.
Thanks,

A public service announcement. Its more that I didn't put a vent onto the side of the building causing the heat to stay inside cooking everyone alive. Incendiary mortars can be so annoying to deal with.
Some experiment with no turret build, i call it starve box :P Good for anything with need meter, no use to mech.

Sorry, posted in wrong thread.
Hey thanks everyone!
A lot of these are really awesome, but there are a few things that will stop me using them. Which saddens me! I've rewritten the first post in this thread with a checklist of things to ensure to make a shot usable.
That said there's also a ton of great usable stuff here. I'm impressed, bravo.
Just wanted to thank everyone again for the screenshot donations. As you can see, some of them have been posted to rimworldgame.com; I think the page looks much better now.
Holy damn, so many killboxes, why cant people just shoot raiders/mechs out in the open? Thats way more fun :)
And less time consuming to build, when you don't have a roof over your geothermal generator, you can't worry about building a killbox. Just double click on a colonist and all colonists will be selected, draft them all and have them all go to one place. They move as a unit.
The fall of my colony...

Welcome to the small town of Lakeside (all modded items deleted from sight).
Wanted to go for a town-like feel instead of a min/max mountain base that I tend to see a lot. There are no turrets in Lakeside, as the (3) local marshals are skilled enough in combat to defend the colony on their own. Yes, the walls are wooden, but they are also very fast and easy to replace when raiders actually survive long enough to break through them 8)
I anticipated a lot more colonist deaths at the beginning of this play through, hence the graveyard to the North. So far, only one colonist has been critically injured :o
I may or may not be using the local beach as a landfill at the moment... Anyways, enjoy the screenshot! :D

Actually it is entirely possible for them to start at the same time. Theoretically, the closer to the speed of light we get, the slower time passes. Therefore, an individual that spends an extended amount of time near the speed of light without actually surpassing it would be older upon returning to normal speed. Likewise, cryogenics is suppose to slow the aging process, therefore early interstellar travel will most likely make use of both, otherwise the original crew would like be generations dead by the time they reach their destination. On a related note, it is likely that a skeleton crew would be required to maintain said ship in transit. The dog may have kept the crew company for nearly a month before they decided to put her in cryo too. Or more likely the skeleton crew released the dog early to keep them company as they prepped for landing.

What he said ^
It's only 1 day in game, which could be a matter of seconds, but it shouldn't be possible - pawns with no stasis time don't show a chronological age because it's exactly the same. Except this ISN'T the same, somehow... It seems she was aged by something. Somehow.

And we should probably stop derailing this thread now...
A little preview of my colony and the ongoing battle - rough preview, lets say... 20% is done building, with just around 10% of it "polished" so far :)
- plan to make a city (trying to avoid too much simetry, just started out)
- please dont mind the "childish" outskirts, atm they look pretty rough, will change those completly
- was having some troubles with raiders from day 4 to day 5, but i think i got those under control now
- going to make friends with tribals again since they grew way too numerous and stuff got "out of hand" (last two raids). They managed to destroy a large portion of my turrets and completly drained my iron reserves, barely managed to get it under control again)
- stitched together 20+ screenshots. (found some allignment issues, tried to fix/hide those best i could, not entirely sure how it came to those, but is just a little preview of work in progress, once im done building and polishing everything i will upload the 14+ mb png (or even larger)
Uploaded the JPG version - 2mb

Ambush in the Summer of 5518:
+ day 8 update, still rough, unpolished but... since such battlefields dont happen so often and Pirate Raid size has almost reached the point of having duplicate names in 1 raid group, i decided to do a little update, inbefore i suddenly dissapear or something due to reasons unknown. Otherwise im pretty much still at it everyday. While watching the 6 screenshot overview i noticed that the "thing in the upper left could resemble a "Mech" and the thing in the upper right could be sort of a pirate squirrel (lol, just happened to look like that, came out randomly, plan to change that in the future :) + already removed the pinkish lights from the new spaceship, since they come over too strong imo + the summer view is way better, since snow covers some nice floors here..., plan to do another update but as said, you never know... )
http://i.imgur.com/uBducqJ.png (http://i.imgur.com/uBducqJ.png)
P.S. sadly i am unable to do a hi-res screenshot due to my shitty graphic card (1024-768 max).
P.S.S. if someone wants to have fun with this msg me and i can provide the savegame + mods folder (misc+mai+epoe).
+ overview when the snow melts...
- there was a boar manhunter wave in between which took me 2+h to deal with, as there is no cap to raid size the tribals and manhunter raids grew way too numerous to deal with on my computer already, am friends with tribals for a few years now, but kinda need the manhunter waves for food, so i play those at 1fps or even less, the pirate and mechs raids are still playable and dont lag much.
(P.S. never used Dev tool)
The Summer of 5519:
http://i.imgur.com/1fQ30oM.png (http://i.imgur.com/1fQ30oM.png)
impressing. i try to copy the defense structure for my base. what modpack do you use ? or vanilla?
Thx, the mods are Misc+MAI and EPOE - but mostly i just use core stuff, there are some things i cant play without and need mods:
- trader caravans, hauler, cleaner droids, saving groups under shift+6/9 buttons (Misc+MAI) and althou i have around 18 hauler droids + 40+ colonists it still gets messy and takes me almost all summer to clean up the winter mess (rly need them badly, im tired of DF type of gameplay where later on you deal with hauling, cleaning up the mess from raids more than anything else, its not some cleaning simulation game or ?...)
- drugged ribs (EPOE) because i cannot get enough joywires from traders althou i have more than enough money to buy anything.
I have to warn you thou that using EPOE for example will result in huge downgrade/handicap also!!!
- the raiders you deal with will come with synthetic organs instead of bionics and you will be unable to harvest and use those, by now i could have everyone (40+) upgraded with complete set of normal bionics if i played without EPOE, without the need to craft any, only have 2 guys with adv. bionics, since imo those are way overpowered, rest of my colonists get their torn off stuff replaced by whatever i get from tradeships, i seldom craft bionics myself, try to avoid that, do have to say that more or less everyone has exoskeleton on them thou + i love the expanded surgery part. :)
+ althou i have 5 Enc. MAI, i could easily do without them, did help me mine alot in the beggining of colony thou.
And that is kinda it from the modded stuff. There are some special turrets also and some other things, but can do without those too and for years now havent been used anymore.
If i would make a new colony now, i would skip the EPOE mod, but would keep the Misc+MAI for hauler / cleaners / traders / grouping only + nano storage (thats nice, since u can hide some things like beer and food and glitter meds, to be used when u want, without having to look around warehouse for too long to find them).
This is the fixed hospital and warehouse look: http://i.imgur.com/2I30w71.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/2I30w71.jpg) (kinda burned out atm, do plan to remove the modded things, but not even sure my quality will be good enough anyway :) )
Pwahahaha I hope you suffered.

That is quite clever actually! Good job ^.^
I decided to upload this screenshot. Is the aftermath of a raid combined with a muffalo manhunter pack storming the gates of my colony The bottom right portion of the field has already been cleaned up a bit. We ate well after that and am sure the crops are well fertilized after. That is one heck of a killing field....
[attachment deleted by admin - too old]
New one as part of my Journal playthrough documentary. I like this one cause managed to catch a grenade mid explosion. This is an outside build map and I do not yet have a solid outside perimeter set up. This raid was the biggest yet for the colony doubled up with guys who are already weakened from a malaria plague. Red, my best melee is out for the count after dealing with sleeping sickness for many months.
So I opened some doors, and fell back to a secure position. Mal was definitely the one who kept this from being much worse. I did duck and shoot micromanagement to keep their club wielding maniacs at bay while Mal sniped with grenades so to speak. Those grenades saved my bacon big time. I really thought it was going to go much worse. No more hesitation, I have to get some proper security built up.
Would it be OK to build a HUGE base on development god mode and take a picture of that? It might make the game easier to sell.

Sure! Tynan won't necessarily use all the screenshots, but there's no harm in engineering one. :)
Just make sure to read & follow his instructions in post #1 of this thread, or it is guaranteed to not get used.
Natural colonies tend to look better honestly. But of course I have no way of knowing if you used dev tools!

Of course.
That would indeed be a VERY BAD mistake to make.
By the way. BBCode allows you to scale the size of a posted image to something more reasonable e.g.
[img width=640]your_image_url_goes_here[/img]
Of course you still want to be able to link people to the full-size thing, so you could do this:

This colony actually was revived by me (a few cheats on the way, a few tricks and a few sacrifices). The result, however, is the following
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=732624044
In the image you can see that I have increasing difficulty in keeping the colony alive. None of the original members are alive. It has effectively failed containing the colonists, keeping the enemies alive, while converting electricity to food. The first attempt at creating energy surplus required a lot of steel and components. Manhunter elephants destroyed all four wind power generators. They were tasty, but expensive. However, the time I cheated was when I entered dev mode to kill off some scythers. All other perils were taken care of properly. It is one of my most progressed colonies... however, the game ends way before the whole map is exploited so I guess there's a point in the design there.

1 - Read the description of God with Tiffy. Why did Flynners create that?
2 - See Flynners' relationship with Tiffy. But who's the cook in the artwork?
3 - I think you can figure out who the cook is.
And no - this wasn't created with Dev Mode or mods or anything. It was just a glorious accident!

Hello all,
I have played through numerous colonies on Rimworld, this game is to addictive btw :), and I figured I would share my latest creation. A colony I am pretty happy with.
A few notes
- I did not use any mods this is pure vanilla
- I played on permadeath mode with no attempts at save scumming
- I did not use developer mode or any other such cheats
- Making yayo may not be the most profitable according to some reddit forums, but it is definitely the most fun. Viva la Pablo Escobar!!!
Anyways enjoy these screenshots!

This is my almost entirely outdoors village-like colony, "Landfall". I opted for the "Rich Explorer" beginning. It is in a Tropical Rainforest Biome, on Randy Random, on the Some Challenge setting. Primary exports being all manner of agricultural goods. Primary imports being steel, and components. It's my biggest, and most successful colony. The image does look a bit fuzzy, however, that is due to the maximum zoom-out I needed to capture the entire settlement. I do apologize for this, as this was the very best I could capture given both the size of the colony, and the "Volcanic Winter" map condition. This is also my first play through without any mods. I was aiming for an extremely long-term settlement, to give me the feeling of creating a culture, rather than just a colony.
It worked. I'm rather proud of it, and decided to post it here.
(EDIT : I should mention my buildings are typically better stocked than what you see. Two caravans came through just a few minutes before this screenshot was taken. Leading me to sell off the majority of my goods for components, steel, and sweet sweet silver.)

So I just started a new world since my R14 world would not load properly anymore due to the update. (I.E no hud. So I'd be basically be watching a movie of my colonist die...over...and over again. :D Wonderful!) And About three hours in I get a sizeable colony for what I want to do and suddenly a manhunter pack attacks....I focus on one of the elephants only to fail to realise that the second one was also attacking. A colonist by the name of Sevigaard, Who is a level two Shot, carrying an awful Sniper rifle managed to dome the elephant in a single shot. I only noticed because I heard the sniper shot and saw Sevigaard turn around. I sat at my screen for five minutes trying to comprehend what just hapened

This story happend while a mechanoid raid in my extreme iceshield survival:
My first joining wanderer was "Recruiter". She has this sex slave background, you know. But however she recruited everyone and because of her beauty (and hopefully more than that) she is also very liked.
Then there was another mechanoid raid. Easy peacy, but suddenly "Miner" started to romance her and she insulted him back. The result was a not so "social fight" beetween a normal and nonviolent character. But she survived. Her dead would make the colony as sad as snow whites dead.

(Colonists on picture are not named on english, sry)
Ryan Stiller (Инженер/Engineer), one of my best colonists. Engineer/Builder. Survived.
Yoko (i forgot full name) (Йоко/Yoko), scientist, and also doctor. Got brain injury, but it was already end of the second year, so i was able to make AI chip.
Kiri, or Kirihara (Кири/Kiri), chief. Was cooking meal(s), like, every 3-6 RW hours.
Ivan (Иван Драго/Ivan Drago), melee fighter, was named that because he wrecked entire hive (everyone was injured, except him, and it was first year), with injuries, but still.
Rocky (Рокки 2.0 /Rocky 2.0), not melee fighter, but she was able to beat some raiders to death using bare hands (no ammo left). Was named before that accident with raiders Europe, because for some reason i thought Luxemburg located in Europe (I think it was midnight).
Early game scyther defence. I have a couple around my base. This time pirates were looking around.
Did not see it anywhere, but this is my setup for cooking. By not allowing haulers near the two stacks closest to the stove, they will not haul 10 veggies there. But the cooks are able to haul from the shelves. That way they will haul a lot in one go. Haulers can now refill the shelves. Just make sure the cooks are restricted in such a way that they will not do to many other hauling jobs.
This was my first successful colony in A14 2016.
Here we got a lone person in the colony now forever alone wandering this empty colony built in the Tropical Rainforests in the mountains. There were two other with him but they run away after the ship got launched and didn't told him that they left. ( For Role-play purposes. )
They launched the ship without him because they were running low supplies thanks to the volcanic winter. They had no time to build three cryptosleep caskets, they had no choice but to leave Marco and the two others ( Tia and Vinho the booze king. ).
Marco threw his anger realizing that they left without him. His book Complete Traveler's Guide to the RimWorlds which is also his journal. He threw his book into the corner of his room in anger and went in a berserk rage attacking Vinho and brutally wounding him. But he was stopped by Tia and her Husky. Who then left him after he was slowly recovering in the clinic.
All that now that is left is him... He now takes control of this colony now. But should he walk away like Tia and Vinho did? Or should he continue the legacy that this colony has left?

If you're using steam. Open the Steam Program and go to the top-left corner and click the word steam and select settings and Find the
In-Game options.
Make sure that
save an uncompressed copy is
checked.
And don't forget to set the screenshot folder in my case i set it
user/doucuments.
Now if you're taking screenshots of the game. A high res image/screenshot will appear in
user/doucuments.
If you're not using steam there's a jury-rigged option to take. Use the
Print Screen Button or as it appears on my keyboard
Prt Sc SysRq. Go to your image editor of your choice like Photoshop or GIMP (gimp is free). And edit the screenshot to your hearts content. Just make the image size matches the screen resolution of your computer.
It's not much but looking at Rimworld's keyboard options theres a take a screenshot button with F10. But i use the steam version so i don't know about non-steam versions though.
Those are awesome! ;)
I do not know if it is really that impressive, but I am trying to build the ultimate defensive works near my colony. Over time, I want to improve them with advanced technology, but I expect that the patches of the 1.0 unstable won't give me the opportunity to do so. Here is their status so far, the point of them is that they pretty much cover every approach to my colony, and give my characters a fair bit of defense in depth. So far, these defenses have stood up to all the attacks, for example, in the case of bomb-throwing enemies, I can command my characters to retreat to another line, or go into the tunnel and attack the bomb thrower from the flank. I want to dig out another tunnel from the hill to the south, fortify it, and use it as a more effective flanking point during battles. I will probably include a first aid station close to that tunnel, as my current hospital is too far away to quickly remove and tend to injured characters during and after battles. There aren't enough traps to really do that much damage, however, so I will probably increase my trap line from two to four, maybe six, if I can find the wood.
That's the problem really, you can't get the wood you know.
You know Henry Crun? He is a guy who can't get the wood either.

My colony was established and started by one man - Grant the most vicious and human meat hungry guy on those parts of ice plains. Currently its late-game stage of my colony. I was really surprised how next infestation scaled. I started to thank myself that I built that lure rooms. But unfortunately those beast from underground broke through my tiny walls and ran at fully rage on my windturbine farm and turrets (R.I.P), no casualties in man. Brave colonists have managed to deal with threat. Next time I will do more security stuff around this place... :D

This is what happened to my initial map after two years of survival with Randy on hardcore.
To survive, my settlers had to build a bunker and go live underground. Unfortunately, organic settlers could not endure isolation and went insane, so I had to "put them to sleep".
Now the underground bunker is completely controlled by semi-intelligent mechanical androids.
That's a lot of modded content!!

The need for marketing pictures is probably long past, but if you can and want to use these pictures in any way, then go right ahead. Since these have been taken during often hectic action in-game, the UI is mostly present (sorry). It's in 1920x1080 since that's my native resolution (sorry again). Maybe you can chop out some of it if there is a picture you want to use?

OMG, so many corpses. An 8-mortar volley fire, where probably half landed in the pack, left almost 80 people dead. They brought around 200, probably more given how long it took until they fled (the game only double-click selects 80). Not easy. Not easy at all!
(http://i.imgur.com/5ulj9F1l.png) (https://imgur.com/5ulj9F1)
A mech ship landed within our exterior walls so it was impossible to try to funnel them into our turret defence. We did manage to build some quick walls and sandbags, but it was ugly as hell. Especially for the poor panthers I told to attack (first time for everything). As you can see from the list to the right, quite a few ended their lives on the battleground. Many on fire. Not a good way to go :'(
We were badly injured beforehand, and much worse after, so I had no realistic chance to save most of the panthers bleeding out. We were all down and injured ourselves and I had to focus the few reasonably healthy pawns on saving our own colonists from bleeding out. Sad with tough priorities.
