General Discussion / B19 Feedback
September 01, 2018, 02:18:59 PM
I've been playing B19 for a few days now and I've ran into a few situations that I experienced as "problematic", so here I am hoping to reach Tynan with my feedback. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall reading that Tynan prefers feedback in story/experience form rather than the form of a suggestion.

1. A large outlander trading caravan is hanging out outside my base. A starving timber wolf starts hunting one of their labradors, aggroing the entire caravan. One of the caravan members is using molotovs, he throws several molotovs at the wolf that's in melee range with the labrador, and also very close to other caravan members. In the proceeding chaos, one of the labradors dies from it's burns before it can leave the map. Friendly fire with throwables is "fun" but I wish the AI made some attempt at friendly fire avoidance.

2. After training a grizzly bear in obedience and release, I draft it's master thinking this will get the grizzly to follow him. It doesn't work, after some back and forth with area restriction I give up and start googling for the answer. The results I find are several years old and talk about obedience and release being bugged, I assume it's still bugged. As a last ditch attempt I check the animals screen tab one more time and scroll over each icon, finally finding the checkboxes for enabling the behaviour I wanted. I wish there was a learning helper message about these checkboxes, triggered on training obedience.

Now that my grizzly is following me, I attempt to hunt with my brawler tamer. I draft and target an animal for melee, hoping my grizzly will rush to attack it aswell with release enabled, no such luck. I try equipping a ranged weapon (-30 mood penalty, ouch), my grizzly waits patiently next to me as I'm shooting and hitting my target. Finally I try going into actual melee combat with the target, after I get hurt my grizzly finally helps out. The second time I try to hunt this way my brawler gets his neck crushed by the second attack of a muffalo. I wish training release gave me some sort of control over my animals target, so that I could send it in before the master attacks.

3. I have two researchers, so I build one research bench in each of their bedrooms thinking I'm clever. The next thing I know they're researching in each others bedrooms. I wish I could assign a research bench to a specific colonist.

4. Queuing priority actions is really nice, getting V-shaped paths between several things you want to haul in one go and the stockpile sucks.

5. The first time I sent out a Caravan I sent them out with only a few meals, thinking the "forage per day" indicator at the top was measured in nutrition just like everything else.

6. My night owls frequently go to sleep at night, even though they're scheduled to sleep 11-18. I wish I could set "Anything but sleep" in the restrict tab.
