Title: most memorable colonist
Post by: Simon_The_Space_Engineer on June 23, 2016, 12:20:17 PM
if youve played the game for a while or at least have had several different colonies chances are you have a memorable colonist or colonists, i was wondering what other peoples stories of bad assery or acts of stupidity have been performed by other colonists and why they are memorable.

Mine is john the bar tender, he was part of my first (and my largest as it was the only colony i truly went back to even after different version where released) colony. He actually crashed on the planet so he was one of the first three allowing me to have seen him the longest. He was well rounded, good with cooking, farming the giant straw berry fields that where needed to feed around 12 colonists, and a crack shot. Best moments of his would include being a warden until a pop star joined (taking his place) farming giant fields, being my first colonist to use a mini gun, using the mini gun to fight off mechinoids, and sniping seiger camps with an assassin or bombing said camp with said assasian

For me, Tail is a memorable pawn, whether or not she's a colonist:

She always has the worst things happen to her in my experience and in others' experience.

In my most successful colony (it was long time ago) I had many memorable colonists
(Zeiph engineer [lvl 20], Big red leader [he was good at shooting and he has lvl 20 at Constructing, Vas sniper [lvl 20 shooting]
[Zeiph , Big Red and Vas were my starting colonists in my second most successful]
Biduero, guy from tribe that was used as colony janitor :)
Axel (in game he was named axle but I renamed him) crafter [lvl 20] and many more that names I don't remember but there were one character that has memorable story Wojtaz.
Wojtaz was probably a pirate that was captured and recruited. He only was good at melee so I made him a colony hauler. He was working very hard and he never went berserk. Colony was rich so everyone was happy except one women (lvl 16 probably at melee). Lavish meals, fancy bedrooms (3x4), statues at every corner (all legendary or excellent because of my level 20 artist) were not enough for her. She went berserk all the time (she was probably very neurotic and something else).
One day she went totally insane. She started attracting everyone and sadly she encounter Wojtaz when he was hauling a rock chunk. Wojtaz didn't have time to pull his sword. She strike twice cutting off his arms. Wojtaz were useless and I was angry at her for what she done. I send Axel (he was wielding shotgun) to her room when she was still unconscious to shot her once. Axel hit her neck but my doctors quickly bandaged her. Next rimworld day she got a infection in her neck which made her crazy. When she was trying to kill everyone mechanoids arrived. She quicly decided to go and fight mechanoids. She was quicly killed and her body was burn by centipede (thats why I don't remember her name). Wojtaz was useless and only things that he was doing for the long time was eating and sleeping. But one day I bought him two bionic arms. Finally he was able to work and enjoy his live. Couple days later Axel made him a legendary plasteel long sword. One day when big tribe raid arrived he went in the middle of group of 10 raiders ( the rest were still moving towards the base)
He killed them all by himself in spectacular way. First unfortunate tribal was hit by Wojtaz only
two times and he lost both his arms. Second tribal lost his hand and then a leg. Rest of my colony killed the rest of raiders without any casualties. After that battle hauler named Wojtaz showed me that every person in rimworld can have good story and you only must to discover it. (He never died he was fighting for the colony until next alpha)

I'm sorry for every grammar error that I've made but I wrote too much and that's why I don't have mood to do that.

Vas the mercenary. I had him in my first colony and he did all the work. Then he appeared as a wanderer in another colony, and was again head honcho.

Vas is definitely one of the best people you can get in rimworld.

Engie the Engineer almost always makes her way into my colony. Always a good builder she's usually the foundation of my base.

For me it was Min the pop idol. All she could do was social and art so that's all I had her do, and she got really good at it. 18 in both art and social if I remember. She could recruit even the most die-hard pirate raider, she got great deals from traders and the colony was littered with top-notch sculptures.

She was however very abrasive and the more sensitive flowers that worked in the artists workshop with her had to take it in turns visiting the beer hall or getting rotated out away from Min. I imagined her saying things like "You call that 'art'? That hand is all wrong, those clothing folds are unconvincing and don't get me started about the composition! You might as well be making stone blocks!" while working on her next masterpiece. Easily my most valuable colonist I gave her full devilstrands, purchased a golden military helmet for her and gave her by far the best living quarters.

A couple Alphas Ago I had a colonist named Vladimir Putin. He was a good shot, charismatic and a great surgeon. He was also a cannibal, psychopath.

He led my first ice sheet colony to greatness!

He successfully implemented a segregation system between the cannibals and the normal. Meals were kept separate and the normal rarely got into the good foods. He carried his sniper rifle for many years, bringing down mechs and tribals alike.

His bionic body led to the establishment of one of my longest lived colonies.

Press F to pay respects.

It was Putin. That's why I remembered so well. Especially after I had him lead one of my less... ethical.. groups.

This was back in A12. Maybe the generator changed because I haven't seen my favorite hybrid dictator around recently :(

Seraph, the godlike super surgeon! Not only was he mostly bionic by the time I got to late game with that colony, he had also managed a headshot from 70 tiles away that tore off the head of a sapper as she mined toward my colony. I'll always remember him as the saviour of Luxville.

During a raid, an attacker named 'Zane' was downed, and I managed to heal, recruit, and make him a very useful colonist. + He had my actual name :P

I got a colonist named Table. His name stuck out because of how odd it was. But he is the most memorable of my colony. He was one of the original three of my commune He was quite lazy, working at his own pace. But that didn't stop him from building most of the commune and becoming a master builder.

One thing I remember about Table is his current struggle with spinal cancer. He got it on his 33rd birthday and it hit the colony hard. Table was an important person in the commune, building almost all of the defenses, roads, and buildings. To have his get plagued by a debilitating cancer was such a tole on me and the colony. But we struggled on with it, treating it as we went. Eventually, over months of treatment, signs of the cancer going into remission appeared. There was hope for Table, a light at the end of the tunnel. We might beat it.

Its been months of remission and Table has been working hard as ever. Defending and building up the commune is what he does, and he'll keep doing with or without cancer.

It was Otto hired assassin, 66 years old.
Alpha 7, I built a pod for him (a spaceship one - there weren't other pods yet - ), for storing him; he could only shoot (18) and melee (16) - and art, when art wasn't a thing yet -.
He stayed in his pod, with a full set of powered armor and devilstrand clothes, his charged particle rifle, two bionic legs and two powerclaws. He had 2 bionic eyes for good measure.

He stayed in a cave just outside colony perimeter, no raid ever entered there. In several occasions he routed the assault by himself, attacking from the back, while the rest of the colony fought the raid; in one occasion I used him to rout a siege by himself, shooting at stragglers and maiming anyone who closed in melee.

After the fight, a quick meal, a sleep in a bed and back in the pod.

I miss him.

Not of my colony, but of Aavak's.

The great prophet Rilder himself.

Fully bionic, minus an A.I. Chip in his head (so he could keep his humanity intact) and Leader of his cannibalistic colony.

He built up the commune, and the game had ended when his cannibal core (leaving one behind to spread the good word of cannibalism throughout the world) made their way into space to find a new place to set down and spread the word to the galactic masses.

He was a killing machine, literally. Being fully bionic made melee attacking raiding pirates simple for him, and seeing him covered head to toe in the blood of his foes after battles was a very common sight amongst his fellow colonists. One often wondered if he enjoyed it.

I have a nudist sculptor running in winter 'happily naked'. He's wearing an alpaca tuque and nothing else. He's still alive, he just earned an eye burn scar so a long ranged weapon doesn't solve all problems anymore.

No one can defeat Mister Ego. He started as a nerd who wasn´t the best guy to start a colony but he made himself from the bottom to the his leader postion now.
