Though it's never happened to me, I've read in this forum that sometimes the wildlife goes crazy and stampedes the base.
This is usually accompanied by the description of a game loss.
So I thought: why not prevent the possibility altogether? Animals can't go crazy if there are no animals to go crazy!

I seen sometimes when raiders land near Muffelo herd they shoot them down i dont know why the Muffelos are friendly and the raiders kill them all :( but sometimes the Muffelo herd kill the raiders before they in the range of my base :) ( YEAH MUFFELO WINS)
One thing that surprised me was that the wildlife doesn't react to being shot. They just keep going on their business.
If you melee attack, that animal will attack back but that's it. I was expecting to have at least the muffalo herds join together fighting an aggressor, but they don't seem to care much.
I've never seen raiders attacking muffalo. I've seen them attacking a drifter for no reason though.
See, that's why I use the local wildlife to grind shooting xp whenever I get the chance.
(Technically you can fire at dumpsites/stockpiles as well, but those give less xp)

I used to shoot mufalos to grind shooting too, but then I discovered beating prisoners is way simpler and more effective. I have no idea why things like beating fires and beating prisoners give shooting xp atm, but they are goat for training.
The one original noble that's still alive in my colony went from 8 to 17 shooting.
