Title: Translation of generated defs like corpse/meat
Post by: Latta on March 31, 2015, 05:04:47 AM
While I was digging through RimWorld's code, I realized that I may be able to translate corpse/meat/leather/natural rock floors and generated recipes. Actually, I was doing it of meat and leather's label already without knowing. But for description, oh it still said "squirrel" in English. Was annoying.

Going for conclusion right away:
To translate corpse/meat/leather just add "_Corpse", "_Meat", "_Leather" as a suffix. Like this:

<Squirrel_Leather.label>squirrel leather</Squirrel_Leather.label>
<Squirrel_Leather.description>It's squirrel's leather.</Squirrel_Leather.description>
<Squirrel_Meat.label>squirrel meat</Squirrel_Meat.label>
<Squirrel_Meat.description>It's squirrel's meat.</Squirrel_Meat.description>
<Squirrel_Corpse.label>squirrel corpse</Squirrel_Corpse.label>
<Squirrel_Corpse.description>It's squirrel's corpse.</Squirrel_Corpse.description>

(Must be placed inside of ThingDefs folder)

For rock terrains, add "_Rough", "_RoughHewn", "_Smooth" as a suffix. Like this:

<Sandstone_Rough.label>rough sandstone</Sandstone_Rough.label>
<Sandstone_RoughHewn.label>hewn sandstone</Sandstone_RoughHewn.label>
<Sandstone_Smooth.label>smooth sandstone</Sandstone_Smooth.label>

(Must be placed inside of TerrainDefs folder)

For generated recipes, in theory, inside of RecipeDefs folder, you add "Make_" as a prefix with item's name. But for an unknown reason those still are in English. It looks like recipes are generated after translations are injected, thus overwriting injections.

Cool! How did you find about these? Can backstories be translated?

Thank you for the info Latta.
I've updated the german translation (a11) with this and it works perfectly :)
