A different type of attack where pirates roll in a slow siege weapon to batter one section (closest in home zone) of the wall. Its slow moving so if you can get out and take it out quick enough the attack will fail but if it gets to the wall it will one shot a hole into it then all the pirates will pour through.
Raid leader: "We need through that wall! Any ideas?"
Raider 1: "How about we build a battering ram?"
Raider 2: "How about this?" *Holds up pack of C-4*
Explosives was my suggestion for raiders punching through walls.
:p It's a neat idea but I'm not sure it meshes with raiders who can get their hands on all kinds of crazy weapons.
Maybe a faction/raid who is stuck with medieval technology or like to use primarily melee.
Tribals might use something like that, but it's not very fitting for them either; they seem to use their numbers to thoughtlessly rush attack.
If you've read the Walking Dead comics..
(Show spoilers!?) Stop reading!! Reminds me of the hilltop. In a world where most other factions have plenty of guns and vehicles, they use spears and horses. They just weren't very lucky. They would totally use something like this if they were to attack someone, which they wouldn't because they are weak pacifists.
A battering ram! Someone get Shinzy.

it'd be sweet if the AI could understand if it's being fooled by some really
ridiculous wall middle of nowhere marked as home zone
Oh that Gif made me chuckle. I get it... battering.. Ram
Rich and refreshing!

Perhaps give each faction a different wall solution.
Mechanoids:Railgun
Tribes:Rams
Pirates:Explosions
Just strip cannon to shinzy and sell him to a faction that pay the most :D

I came for the Shinzy ram....knew itd be here before i even opened the thread. :)
How much effort would it be to make the ram's ai hit the wall?

just any wall or a wall that actually matters somehow? =P
I don't know!
How about the longest wall that is also the closest?

It can only ram things off the rail
*not suitable for war
*as in way offtopic sort of sense
No its perfect because you derailed the topic.
Mission accomplished!
Well, to be honest we have had our fair share of battering ram suggestions, so its not like we're losing anything :P
(sorry, no offense meant)
If the AI was smart we wouldn't be needing this suggestion since rockets already exist.
I'm afraid all this will do is lead to multiple check point kill boxes. Or a single entry base. That is made in the shape of like an hour glass or whatever shape is needed to mess with the AI so that they walk into a trap.

That would be better than a single kill box and would pull resources from your main kill box.
