Poll
Question:
just how big do you want rim world to become?(read before voting)
Option 1: just let me manage my colony in peace...(current form)
Option 2: let's take the fight to the enemy!(allow raiding outside the colony)
Option 3: can we create a civilization?(multiple colonies working together)
Option 4: all I ask for is a big spaceship and a star to steer her by.(space exploration)
Option 5: give me the universe! the universe I say!(space colonies/empires/federations)
I'm giving everyone 2 votes so if you can't make up your mind between 2 scales just vote for both XD
how big do you want to see the "rimworld universe" become?
this poll is solely for this game/title if enough people want a poll that would span multiple games/titles, i'll create a new poll for that. i'll be creating a new poll for multiple games/ titles later today. the amount of voters in this one alone has made me very curious if the result would differ.
I would like to start off small (1 colony) Then DESTROY anyone who stands in my way. :D
I think I'm good with staying and managing my colony. Only thing I really look forward to is making the factions a little bit more in-depth and diplomatic.
i dont necessarily need more than one colony, but i would liek for the world beyond my colony to grow and change, and id like to have a hand in some of those changes. I especially want to be able to crush aggressive enemies that wont bugger off.
Still, i like it as is, i just feel that the world should be a bigger part of the equation than what part of it is cold or hot
I've always wanted a "Death Star" that would be nice eh? Do ya think its achievable with 20 colonists? jk^^ I am happy
I would have phrased the poll differently.
We always overlook calling this "settlement of survivor" a "colony", but calling raiders/factions enemies as if they were to be dispatched is biasing the interpretation.
How I understand the poll myself :
1) Colony zone only
2) Attacking other factions
3) World Map with player-city
4) Worlds colonization effort.
5) Obligatory unreasonable choices.
But to me, only 1) and an hypothetical "1.5) Outside exploration/diplomacy with other faction" is feasible within the gameplay of Rimworld. Anything beyond will ask a entirely different gameplay or detract from survival.
Once you get beyond 20 or so colonists, the dynamic change and it become more a matter of statistic and efficiency.
And aside, my only reason for outside exploration is to justify getting "item/events" that would be absurd to get directly anywhere you landed.
I was going for humor but i'll add more information. thanks mate.
this game should be about survival- not thriving
We shouldnt be running a kingdom among kingdoms - we should be trying to survive in a harsh environment along with other survivor colonys (mad max style)
To this end- the game should get harder and harder =)

I see RimWorld the same way. As features continue to get added (https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/000/955/032/03d82b80aadc4703b3264a87f643293b_original.png?v=1380126478&w=700&h=&fit=max&auto=format&lossless=true&s=43a47217b74c92b36d3ae706c108c589), survival will become more than just having enough food and guns. Just inter-colony and more dynamic factional relationships will add a lot more depth to the game.
For $30?
Lets just fully flesh out the colony simulator before anything else
I would love to start out as the 3 crashed survivors (more if you mod) and build up. Then you could build the ship causing the mid-late to be about exploring the galaxy, or at least immediate star system, while creating/managing colonies/empires.
Right now i'd just be happy with more diplomacy options other then "send gold." Many times have I helped travelers who were attacked by random stragglers left on the map from previous sieges and raids.
