Title: Denting the Omnipotence
Post by: Listy on May 08, 2015, 02:01:21 AM
So we're the all seeing and powerful omnipotent entity watching over the colony ensuring that it grows and prospers right?

Go on then, what are moments that put a dent in the appearance of being all knowledgeable? What clangers had you dropped? The ones that make you face palm when you spot them...

Mine:
Up until halfway through A9 I carried on running power supplies out to my trade beacons.

I literally just now noticed on a three year old colony that the chiller units in my morgue were venting the wrong way.
(Edit: to confound the error I just re-built them the still the wrong way and trapped a bloke in the chimney. Who let me run this colony?)

Completely forgot to wall in my morgue.  Rain -> Explosion -> 3 dead colonists.

Despite their laziness and inability to follow an order, I managed to convince my colonists to hollow out one more portion of their mountain to house a geothermal generator.

Poor Bob turned into a human pancake in the resulting cave-in.

After correcting my problem with the room but not building the generator yet, the other 6 colonists started to pass out from heat stroke. With no one left to rescue/work, they all slowly died. Eventually realized that the geyser puts out heat :(

I recently designed a base entrance on the premise that enemies would have to wade through water while being shot. Unfortunately I didn't bother testing whether the Deep Water 4% movement rate tiles were actually passable. Turns out they're 0% movement rate, and I have a nice scenic patio for taking breakfast.
