Title: Looking for stories or writes
Post by: mrofa on July 13, 2015, 06:29:17 PM
(http://s8.postimg.org/r39u3dj51/ssc1.png)
So i did my small update with a bookshelf of which im very proud off :D
But it require some imagination or some writing skills, of both im kinda lacking...
Currently got 3 randome stories abrexus found for me on internet :p
So im looking for some one that could write a story or a few in short sentences, like the one on the screen, prefably from rimworld lore but its more as a preference than a requirement.

This is a general format i did use with lenght which on generall works, thrugh one or two lines might be to long
   <BookText>
<li>It was a dark and stormy night.</li>
<li> Suddenly, a shot rang out!</li>
<li>A door slammed.</li>
<li>The maid screamed.</li>
<li>Suddenly, a pirate ship appeared on the horizon!</li>
<li>While millions of people were starving, the king lived in luxury.</li>
<li>Meanwhile, on a small farm in Kansas, a boy was growing up.</li>
<li>A light snow was falling....</li>
<li>and the little girl with the tattered shawl had not sold a violet all day.</li>
<li>At that very moment...</li>
<li>a young intern at City Hospital was making an important discovery.</li>
<li>The mysterious patient in Room 213 had finally awakened</li>
<li>She moaned softly</li>
<li>Could it be that she was the sister of the boy in Kansas...</li>
<li>who loved the girl with the tattered shawl</li>
<li>who was the daughter of the maid who had escaped from the pirates?</li>
<li>The intern frowned.</li>
</BookText>

Ofc authors will get the credit and thier own books  money from books sales and luxery golden squieelr. :D

Edit:

Why not use some of the stories from the forum, or are they too long?

This is kinda hard, i did try to chop it but at some point it stoped making sense ;p
I mean when you try to read it, i forgot to write this but colonists only read 7 entries from the book thats why 7 lines is minimum. They will select a point in book and read 7 entires down in order from that book.
Thats why at some point the story ends up being wierd:P
Anyways got new 2 books from haplo will be adding them today :)

Once upon a time,

there lived three little boar,

and a hungry centipede.

The centipede wanted to eat the boar.

But the boar built a home made of granite blocks,

and the centipede's inferno cannon was no match at all.

And the centipede fled, huffing and puffing at his failed efforts...

Awesome story, right? It would've been better, but the seven lines thing...

You did misunderstood it :P

Lets say you got 20 lines of story. Each time a colonist will start read a book he will choose a randome point in book, i.e. line 10.
Then he will read line 10, 11 ,12... up to 17. It was done intentionally so the longer story is the harder is to get the whole story and lets face it colonist cant read to long, thier brains will overheat .
Ofc i misscalculated one little factor... i have completly no talent in writing stories ....

And your story will end up in a book if you dont mind ;p

Of course I don't mind, or else I wouldn't have posted it, lol. I do expect a luxury golden squirrel, however.

I suggest something like the Wasteland Survival Guide from Fallout, here is the wikia page for the quest, it could have some use as a book, though not necessarily a story but instead as a guide.

I've search some resource stories for you but can't find one that was short enough. The shortest I've found ==> http://www.reddit.com/r/shortstories/

Searching "200 words stories"  in Google gave me some good sites.    Like http://www.story-pages.com/

Mrofa, Feel free to chop this up into segments, add bits or subtract bits.

I'm unsure whether this is to long though.

Here's something I wrote. Better check it for grammer and typos, since I'm not a native speaker.

<BookText>
<li>It was the third day of a long and painfull siege,</li>
<li>James and Rookie were dead and burried, and I had my right ear blown off.</li>
<li>David, our sniper, decided to take it upon himself to free us from this nightmare.</li>
<li>As he stealthly sneaked about the grass, looking for the raiders' base,</li>
<li>he suddenly wispered urgently at the coms.</li>
<li>With my one ear I could make out that one distress signal we never want to hear;</li>
<li>"MAD BOOMRAT!"</li>
<li>A loud bang sounded far off.</li>
<li>with my pistol in hand, and the coms eerily silent, I opened the colony door.</li>
<li>The entire plain was on fire.</li>
<li>Looking far away, I saw the fire slowly crawling towards the raiders' base.</li>
<li>As the fires reached their cannons, 2 horrible explosions burned at my eyes</li>
<li>I was never as happy to feel the rain pour, as that night.</li>
<li>I never did find David's body, </li>
<li>but as soon as I could, I built a statue in his honour.</li>
</BookText>

I'd add stories, but they'd all be lewd stories so.  :|
