Because there's people like me who can't. It helps cause you get time to react if the enemy has nades, as you can move them out of the explosion radius. that and I often screw up their firing line when getting them into postion.

Firstly you should calm down.
Second it slows down so you can notice when the attacks happen
Thirdly the speed is probably locked so you can't accidently switch speeds with a shortcut key

If you are already on fast speed when attacked, then you can actually pause and unpause the game and it will go back to fast speed even if the fast speed button is Xed out.

Just FYI this is probably the absolute worst tone to take when asking for something in any context.  Hope this helps!

Pretty sure the logic is just that Raid are Event too important to accidentally miss. Same for a few other events. So slowing down is an obvious thing to do.
For one I appreciate the game automatically slow down. And I never really needed to speed up because I like seeing the action unfold.

Still, I suppose I see nothing wrong in letting you speed up yourself anyway, as long as you are fully aware of the consequences.

Yeah this is something I've seen Tynan say something about. I just want to point out, it would be more polite to not ask "WHY THE FUCK" when asking people something. So the answer to this is because in battle, a lot of stuff happens and very quickly. In seconds at full speed, too quick for you to do anything about it, several tragic events can happen to your colonists causing great harm to your colony, such as several getting shot to death because the battle went by so fast you weren't able to freeze and have them take cover or such in time.

It's ridiculous. The game speed should be unlocked or at least made optional, or available in dev mode.
I agree with the intent and I think it's a good thing that it slows down when attacked. It could just as well be auto-pause when attacked, I would even prefer that. But once it has slowed down or paused, it should be possible to set the speed to anything, just like before. No artificially forced timer on lowest speed setting for whatever it is, 20 seconds, renewable on each hit?

Autopause is how almost every other game does this. I was wondering why I was being disallowed from going in fast mode I thought it was a bug..

A thread revived from July 19th. Might be best to create a new thread on this at a better topic for debate...
