Title: Self opening crypto-sleep caskets?
Post by: ratboys on August 28, 2015, 09:01:41 AM
Wouldn't it be cool if you could put colonists in a crypto-sleep casket and fast forward time to like a hundred years or so? and you could see the remains of your colony and how the world has changed? I think this could be really interesting. thank you ty for this game :)

That would be interesting. Waking up and finding out a random group of tribals have taken over your colony, and you have to fight them to regain control. I like the idea. The only problem I see with it is the main goal is to escape the planet. Going to sleep for hundreds of years would be unproductive. Perhaps add it as a way to restart the game on the same map, but with better colonists?

To expand on this. I think it would be interesting to have a random event where the ancient cryptosleep caskets that you can find in ruins automatically pop open after a certain amount of time. Then they dig out and assault the colony (or join them if they are friendly).

I think having all of your colonists enter Cryto-sleep Should be a game ending.

At the moment I like to include them in my medical wards, in the event my colony cannot sustain through the winter, il put non essential members into deep sleep until the long winter ends. Or, in the middle of an extended fight and I can't help incapacitated colonists in the moment. (Same for diseases)

I do like this idea though, could set an amount of days/years the pod should open.

Seems like it could work. The only thing is, though, that this would be pretty unproductive and quite pointless. But fun all the same.
