What is the difference between public and private testers?

Basically the same; however, Private receive the game to test before public testers since the game is still pretty broken and full of worst bugs than normal.

Yeah. Private are selected too, so you can't just ask on a forum like public. Big modders are usually selected too, which is why they may have their mods updated before public testing is even done.

When testing begins, Tynan first releases the game to the private testers. Private testers find as many bugs as they can and post the bug reports directly to Mantis. There is also a bit of discussion regarding the new features added to the game and the balancing of them.

Once the majority of bugs appear to be squashed, it then goes out to the public testers, to find any bugs that were missed by the private testers. This is to see if there are any other bugs or balance issues that need to be resolved before the game is released.

and e and f. Don't forget we peaked at f. Twice, I think? We've never had a g release, so that's good.
