Title: Studying
Post by: TheDirge on September 10, 2015, 12:45:51 PM
Im studying to become a photographer, so maybe one day i can take a picture like "Raising the flag at Iwo jima" or the "Guerrila heroica" that'll go around the world and will be remembered forever.

So if you are studying, what is it and why?

While I may not be in college, i'm hoping to study Law, so I can become a state trooper. Hell I might even try to become a marine. Chances are I'm going to become a marine. Mainly because I want to help my country, and other countries with problems such as terrorism an such.

Noble Aspirations, I wish you both luck with that. :)

I'm thinking of studying IT, going into a general course and seeing where it takes me, Life is a journey after all.

Currently studying biology with a focus in physiology :)

Probably going to end up double majoring with computer science though. I dont care much to become a doctor anymore, only find it to be an interesting subject :)

Photography is something I will never be good at, and joining the military is something I can never see myself doing. Both are really good goals tho! :D

And you're absolutely right, Coenmcj. Sucks not knowing where you want to end up yet, but we all figure it out sooner or later.

Exactly, at least for me this approach worked out fine. I didn't know what to study so I ended up studying Political Science and History of South Asia because it sounded interesting. Where did I end up? Coordinating journals production in a publishing house. Even if you don't know what you want to become right now just do whatever you like, the rest will come.

I'm not currently studying, but let's see if I can list some of what I've studied...
- Algebra
- Physics
- Statistics
- Geometry
- Calculus
- Programming (some)
- Education
- Psychology (some)
- Anatomy/Physiology
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Kinesiology

That's a good enough list for now.  ;)

I'm just kinda doing health stuff, maybe to sell drugs, maybe to do check ups.
I really want to do business but I feel too old at 20, to really get a good start from scratch. I'm thinking I'll be like 30 after I save up a bit, then start up something. Maybe a pharmacy, or clinic.
I can't say I've got any plans together, I'm mostly just walking in the general direction of forward.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

On a more serious note,
I haven't really decided nor even know what I want to do in the future. While graphic arts and writing are my interests, finding jobs in those areas seem hard. So I'll just go with what my parents want me to go into (IT or a local business they may set up) and just do those as a hobby.

Though I'm very interested in Psychology and would like to study it out of curiosity. (Unintended rhymes)

I am not currently studying, but I would love to study Law. That way I get to lock up those ISIS idiots!

Oh I'm studying Spacial Design (interior design) along with a little bit of photography as a hobby.

I really enjoy photography but I hate being tied down to a specific style, which is why I'm doing so badly in this class XD

Im studying for my glider's license, followed by my power license. I'll get my high school diploma, and enlist in the Air Force. That way I get to bomb those ISIS idiots ;)

Good that you all have goals, I notice a lot of them involve fighting ISIS scum.

I just read a random little fact, that now that I think about it may give the impression I'm trying to start an argument. That is not the case, I just think it is interesting and that people should know more about everything.
Yearly Global deaths by cause:
Automobile accident: 1.24 million (1240000) (A good danger benchmark since it is normal behaviour)
Terrorist attack: 18 thousand (18000)

http://www.who.int/violence_injury_prevention/road_safety_status/2013/en/
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-30086435
Those numbers are for 2013.

That makes me think the world is actually doing pretty good, by far most deaths are by a voluntary risk (taking part in traffic), and not by ill intent.

Checking Wikipedia makes me think it isn't a fair comparison without context. It looks like heart-problems and infectious diseases are the big guns, together they killed about 29 million in 2002, and it looks like the 2010 data is similar, just with heart problems increasing a bit while infectious diseases got significantly less.

P.S. Huh, I noticed I slipped into arguing a political view. I deleted those bits before posting, down that road lies unpleasantness. Instead I will just stick to giving information. I've added some links in case people are interested in health and safety issues, (I think these are quite good sources).

Linguistics.

So, hopefully and eventually, I might give humankind a better grasp of its own biggest tool, language.

Studying Biotechnology, great thing to to if you want to learn a hard science and at the same time learn to code basic programs. :)

It's basically a dream if you like to code but you didn't want to focus on it full-time.

I have no clue what I'm going to do or study, because my interests change almost daily :)

For example, there was one point in time that i was OBSSESSED with trying to figure out making brain implatns in my little basement, using google to find stuff out

Then it was AI, then electric cars & going to mars (rhyming FTW), the other day it was building a RL, functionin pipboy, yesterday it was coding ALL THE THINGS, today is... well I don't know what to day is, and tomorrow is it's own beast that I'll deal with when I get there.

And now, off to be un satisfied with how easily colonists become unhappy (and wishing they could have about 30 traits all at once...)
