I know this is completely random, but i was wondering if there is any people in the military here, from any country.
I was just curious to see if there was anyone that has experience in the field as im going away to basic training in August. (NZDF)
I'm a military ordnance rocket person in reserve, does that count? =P I've been trained in the fine arts of scoutery, and radio operatory
And looking back to it the basic training has been among the best experiences in life, although it may not feel like it while you're doing it
woah woah woah....they let Shinzy near rockets???....im done.

He knows 40 ways how to shake your hand with just his thumb.
OT though, I know 2 people outside of these forums, one going into the armed forces and another who's already gone through, the latter says that completing basic training was definitely a "satisfying experience" and like what Shinzy said, you'll probably regret it at the time, probably not later. :)

To be honest champ, you will love it. I'll take it your going NZ Army, and if so, good luck with your field ex's in Waiouru.
The mates and experiences you get within the NZDF will set you up for life. Make the most of it.
Im applying for the ADF reserves as we speak, and once my last year of schools up im applying for ADF as an infantry officer with a IT degree. Cant wait. Been dreaming of it since i was 5
Well, served for 4 years, long time ago. I'm getting old! =)
Was a nice time in the army, but I don't really miss it.
Going into boot camp in the summer, mom is forcing me to go. Wish me luck and hope that I don't die.

You're not gonnoo die.
I mean unless someone goes crazy and starts mauling people with a hammer
But that's very unlikely! It's only ever happened once. And even still nobody died so
you'll probably be fine. You'll be fiiiiine.
Dentists are more deadlier
While not true military, but I have done something called LSV, which involved living on a military base here in New Zealand for 6 weeks.
There is a promotional video about it, of which I received a physical copy and as such almost immediately uploaded it to YouTube when I got it. You can view Part 1 of the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L9N-orxT84
Can anybody tell me if what's involved in LSV (from what you see in the video anyway) is similar/dissimilar to Basic Training?
I was an overseas contractor with DHS for over 2 years, while not true military I have been to Afghanistan and Iraq, then before that I worked in a Maximum Security Prison for a year.
