Hi, First of all, love the game and the update made it even better than before! Now onto my quite stupid question.
I have a friend who lives next door and he hangs out at my place pretty much every day, he is unable to get the game for various reasons and he asked me whether I could pass the game to him via his USB Stick, so before I give him my answer tonight I want to know if I can get in trouble if I do that, lose my game or something? I understand that this is a stupid question but better safe than sorry.
You shouldn't do that. If you want to buy a copy and gift it to him (his name and email address) you can.
Im gonna go with that being immoral and illegal.
Though i know the situation i had a friend who wanted rimworld and the thought of lending them my link crossed my mind but quickly decided no. since then they now own there own copy legitamatly.
So overall a no.
I would like to know Tynan's position on this. The license is for 5 machines, after all.

Is it for 5? I thought it was 'to one person' or household. I really need to re-read the license and all. ???
any allowance for several machines is for when you own several yourself. If i want to put the game on my desktop, laptop, work computer, i can. but its only for me to use. not to let you share it with 4 friends.
the game license is to protect the developer, not let you get away with piracy. if you think something is worded in a way to let you do something like that ITS NOT.
/\/\ Bingo.
Am i the only one wondering what level of naivety is needed to make this post in the first place?

It's called troll bait, or someone likely in their early/pre-teens that has a poor understanding of copyright law.
There is a now LICENSE AGREEMENT, or EULA file along with the game! i for one, have read it *shine with smugness* and indeed, you CANT give copies of the alpha to friends. they will have to purchase it themselves!
The EULA specifically states (In the ONE KEY RULE section) that you are not allowed to give a copy of the game to anyone else.
