I'm sorry if similar idea already exists, but i couldn't find it. what i mean isn't very complicated, simple metal plates protecting our animal companions in battle would be very nice. visible if possible, but not necessarily. if the idea is possible at all.
Cool idea, I don't know how possible it is to program this. Probably not that bad I imagine a capable modder could do it. Sounds like a cool idea. I would be wondering if you would be expecting the Armour to decay all that good stuff. Because if so that does mean modding in a whole clothing option for pets. With a way to optimize pawns to switch out the clothing on the animal. Crafting the Armour and all sorts of stuff. Neat, likely possible but probably not easy. And with many types of pets vanilla friendly would be a hard thing to obtain with a mod like this.
But if anyone would make this mod I would probably grab it. And am I EVIL for wanting there to be fragmentation Armour thats designed to look like the outter shell of a grenade for my boomalope brigade!
I don't think this would be able to work because you can't force animals to do anything
Daredevil7... well yeah you would have to have the colonists force equip/dress the animal. And yes this whole mod would be decently complicated.
This is not a physical defence, but a energy shield for your animals. I haven't tried it myself, i want to finish a colony before i add mods> https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=18995.msg207279#msg207279
(requires "ED-PersonalNanoShields" from Enhanced Development mod pack by Jakka)
well animal clothing overall sounds like a fun and interesting idea, but I didn't mean to go that far, yet at least. I would be happy for one, two piece metal armor just for animals we usually use in battle (I like bears). and if I'm not mistaken, the mod above proves that getting animal to wear something is possible.
Animal Bionics?
I would take that too I guess, I've seen a mod adding animal surgery so in my small mind with zero of modding experience, animal bionics are possible. but that's not what I'm aiming for in this request. although it would be undoubtedly awesome.
Horse Armor DLC $2.50. :)
would there be anyone interested in at least trying to create such mod?
I have an idea... researching now
Brain exploded ...

I could give it a try when I am bored. Unless it involves assemblies, I don't have that much skill in moding this game but I have been working on a game. I just need textures I think.

Civ 5 vs my laptop 93C, I will not recommend an acer v-nitro for gaming b/c its temperatures.
would be so nice, I'll have hope.
What I was thinking about was adding in a new animal body part Which does nothing , has no hit points etc.. which would be able to be replaced by animal armor . I'm 99% sure that can be done without assemblies . I can't figure out how to make the armor useful as I don't see a way to make the armor add something like extra hit points or chance to avoid damage or something armor would do, at least without assemblies. Doing assemblies is like magic !
It might be possible to add something like a harness that improves carry weight or movement speed etc ... and im pretty sure those have already been done.
If you were to create a new body part, you could specify its health, creating the illusion of armor with more hit points
Yes , but those hit points would be there from the start , which would negate a reason for armor and buff all animals for no reason. Hit points don't seem to be an attribute that can be augmented just by changing a HediffDef file. I could be wrong . I haven't discovered a way to do it. I'm not qualified enough or it could probably be done by just copying the apparel system to pets.
Perhaps an implant, much like the bionic system for pawns, but for animals that gives a large health buff?
Thats what I meant by adding a new body part, so the armor could be attached via an instant surgery with no anesthetic, meds required. I just don't think you can add hp or modify hp with a HediffDef . And I don't think you can add hp to a part like a bionic leg modifies movement or a bionic arm modifies manipulation. HP isn't in the same category as manipulation, move speed, breathing etc.
It doesn't necessarily need to modify or add hp, if it has an innately high amount of hp on the implant itself, forgive and correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you set the health of implants? If you can then you could create an armor plating implant that replaces a standard torso and has a base hp thats substantially higher?
Thats what I meant , I don't see a way to add HP or even armor rating to an implant.
Yea, I took another look and see I am wrong about that. Sorry :/
I think surgery could do the trick... Like implant armor to torso or replace organs...
Tried to do EPOE for animals - scary as hell - grizzly bear with hydraulic jaw, bionic legs, advanced bionic spine and synthetic lungs ???
Need to try adjust damage and hp for these replacements
[attachment deleted by admin - too old]
Yeah What I was talking about the same basically as a bionic implant , but the idea would be like it was a covering . I just can't find a way to add HP or armor rating to an implant . probably can be done with an assembly which I am not qualified for.
Looks like HeDiff does not allow to modify pawn stats like HP and armor. So someone must to to dll assembly with workaround. Also, animals has no inventory to stuff armor there and no control to assign it.
