its not 100% sure because i didnt check it on game playing and just had an short exp with god mod & forced infestation event
but it looks working so i want to share this information with you guys. (if this is not so new info, sorry for making a fuss)
this is exp video. first part contatins video half wire implemented and half not, they appear only non-wire implemented ground.
second part contains full wire implemented ground exp. hive does not appear at all.
after this exp, i checked it also in the vanilla and it works too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dzkhxu6IQnM
so, basically, hive does not appear at wire-implemented ground. (anything which constructed would have same effect i think, except tiles)
isnt there a beauty debuff to wires?

well the player could do it without and penalty, but i would be annoyed at all the wires.
Is there a way to turn of infestation events?

you would proabably have to do something in the code and set the value to 0.
is there a config file or something I can tweak I'm not seeing anything jump out

Find the definition for infestation, and set the baseChance to 0.0.
Why you want to turn it off? It is free unlimited supply of meat.. Just organize it properly.
youd think that metal tiles would be strong enough to keep hives from popping up in your base... im ok with the hive threat i just hate how they appear in your base in the worst spot possible and grow so quickly for how often they are (although not often i still feel its a little to powerful for how much it does seem to appear). maybe in the future you can lay metal floors to block them and then put what ever you want over it (carpet, tiles, etc)
Well I was having a lot of fun with a Tundra colony, and was just about at the point of opening up raider graves due to looming starvation after a solar flare wiped out my crops (power loss to the hydroponics). It was a significant challenge in itself, then infestation showed up in my 2 colonists bedroom and killed everyone. I haven't played in a while so i didn't know this was a thing..... Anyway after the lol's I thought it would be fun to try to beat the starvation problem without the looming threat of bugs killing my 5 people.
Thanks Lockdown your awesome!
Bugs are a great source of meat so long as you control the number of hives. My bug farm has four turrets that fire though embrasures (mod) that easily kill anything that spawns from the three hives that I permit to exist at once. It's pretty much a free-meat farm.

that is awesome can you post a SS :) i just wanna see!
This was my old bug farm. Because of the bugs, I build all rooms with embrasures and all hallways are fortified at the junctions, so when the bug event happens I can set up turrets or get the colonists to shoot them without too much trouble. This one spawned in a hallway so the hallway became the bug farm.

This is later. The bug farm is now the training area. A few colonists are restricted to the training area, given low-damage weapons and set to attack enemies instead of fleeing. As long as the doors are not forbidden they will automatically shoot the bugs through the embrasures. You just have to keep the number of hives to a manageable level and you get free meat, free jelly and free training.

I agree with some of the others.. Bugs are a great source of meat. Setting up defenses against the bugs seems more reasonable. :)

nice farm!
the art of my information is that player can control the generating spot of hive. and by applying it, can easily build well planned, expected bug farm.
