Title: Wall Carving / Finishing
Post by: RogalDorn01 on July 27, 2016, 10:37:05 AM
My biggest wish right now is that you could improve the hewn rock walls in your colony.  Similar to smoothing stone floors, being able to pretty up your walls would be a very welcome addition to the game for me.  I realize that this is straight out of Dwarf Fortress, so perhaps it isn't appropriate to suggest.  But it always seemed off that beauty is such a consideration in the game for pawns, yet they are totally comfortable with having barebones mined out rock for walls in their rooms full of lovely carpet, art, and jade furniture.

I looked around via the search parameters of the forums and I was shocked not to be able to find any other threads about this....am I blind?

Maybe :)

Also there is a mod out there, that includes this feature.

Regardless I vote that this sort of thing should be in the game. I'm always amused when people are making suggestions to improve an alpha or beta game and someone says "there is a mod for that" . . .

Perhaps it's my autism but just because there is a mod to do something doesn't mean we shouldn't be pushing to have it added as part of the main game. Especially if we are acting as alpha/beta testers and reviewers. :)

You are absolutely right.
I would like to have the feature in the game for myself and like you I hate it when persons just point out to mod it.
Thats why I referred to the mod itself, this makes the feature available instantly :)

Also the developers of Rimworld have included mods several times in the game especially popular and usefull ones :)
So actually referring and talking about the mod in the suggestion forum is a good way of promoting the feature.
