Title: Constant backstory conflicts
Post by: Delerium76 on July 30, 2016, 03:11:46 AM
I'm constantly seeing pawns show up with conflicting backstories, which tells me that the game does nothing to screen them and just throws two random ones together.  Childhood and Adult backstories shouldn't conflict, but they often do.  Things like "Cult child" which disables researching, but the adult backstory is "Navy scientist" which gives +8 to research.   When deciding pawn's backstories, why not just exclude all backstories that give bonuses to stats the other one disables?  That way they don't basically stomp all over each other and create tons of very uninteresting pawns.

I'll throw in the case that I reported:

A vengeful child (= no Medicine/Caring) that became a Healer on adulthood

I also hope that a checkup will be implemented ... after all this shouldn't be too difficult:
First roll for the childhood occupation ... and then, when rolling for adulthood occupation just reroll if the occupation conflicts with childhood taboos, or just roll on a limited list of adulthood professions (that comes without any professions for which the pawn has taboos)
