Title: Linux performance problem
Post by: gh2k on September 05, 2016, 09:06:11 AM
Hi,

Running vanilla Rimworld (Steam) on my Linux (Gentoo) desktop, I have the following problem:

- Playing for the first time is fine. Everything is snappy and it runs just fine on my 4k monitor.
- Playing again is a problem. The framerate is horrible. The screen updates about once per second if that, and I can't really do anything with it.

Killing and restarting X solves the problem, and next time I run it it's fast again.

i.e.
- Turn on computer, launch rimworld. Happy times
- Close rimworld
- Launch rimworld again. It's all slow and unusable.
- Launch rimworld a third time. It's all slow and unusable.
- killall X
- startx
- Launch rimworld. Happy times are here again.

nvidia (not nouveau) drivers. Two monitors, same performance on each.

It *sounds* like it's using my videocard when I run the game for a second time, as the fans in it get noisier just like they would the first time.

Log attached.
