Title: game is unplayable
Post by: Tabbit on September 14, 2016, 01:36:06 AM
well the title seas it all. i can only play the game for an hour or two at most before all colonist die. i know it should be my fault but i cant stop the game from giving me all diseases back to back. and i mean that in the most literal since. they develop an immunity then get up out of bed and get an infection before leaving the room. get over that go outside and get malaria before they can get food in there mouth. and even get and infection than die before they can move or be treated.

What storyteller?
What difficulty?
What terrain?
Any mods?

What kind of hospital do you have? What kind of doctors do you have?

Just make sure to have a sterile room (use sterile floor tiles) which you keep clean - no crap, puke, blood or dirt on the floor. That will take care of any infections, should the person stay in the bed and be taken care of by doctors.

As for other disease, you keep the guys in the bed as much as you can - setting priorities correctly affects this a lot. If absolutely everyone is sick, take daily turns in feeding and treating the the other patients.

And just to be sure - you DO have at least healroot in the hospital room, reserved for treating people, right?

You're probably playing a Jungle biome. Don't. They are officially hard starts imo, with the absurd rate of disease.

Try a Temperate Forest start for something a little less nuts.

Can also come down to RNG as usual. I'm currently playing jungle and had one case of sleeping sickness so far. And I'm sure than now I've jinxed it and everyone will get sick soon.

Start with normal forest, easiest basebuilder storyteller, easiest difficulty, with good doctor and good cook, everybody with 20-30 years old. It will be a lot easier for start.

That's good advice right there. I'd also add bring a good construction guy and an expert miner if you're going with a cave colony.

Well if you play in the tundra hardly anyone ever gets a disease because they freeze to death first. Isn't it great drama? To be honest when you finally manage to survive the first year or so in the game it gets easier...

I keep telling that to my colonists but they refuse to lose their jersey shore attitude :(
