I'm a bit confused about what happens when you launch a ship. I did this once with a few of my colonists, thinking they would branch off and start their own colony. They just kinda disappeared. I could go back and play with the rest of my colonists, but that was it. If you put all of your colonists on the ship and launch them all at once, do you then get to go and colonize another planet? Perhaps I'm daft, but I thought you were supposed to be able to move on and colonize other worlds if you want.
Launching a ship is game over.
Yeah. The end game is a bit underdeveloped.
Although you're technically not supposed to have an everlasting colony, the incentives really aren't there for you not to.
On my first game I continued for a while after all my colonists successfully launched. Eventually someone fleeing from pirates requested assistance, and my empty base said "sure"... the still running automated defenses took care of the pirates.
A second member eventually joined the colony, but they were both wiped out by a huge pack of maneating boars before they were able to fully repair the defenses.
I was a little tempted to see how far I could carry on, but eventually the lure of starting a new game won out.
My first and only launch I only took my 2 favorite pawns. After the credits I could have continued on with the remainder.
If it's anything like the death escape of Poochie on
'The Simpsons' then I don't think players are getting
cheated.
