Title: suggestion: colony roles.
Post by: Azuchisamurai on December 28, 2016, 07:29:07 PM
when i get a prisoner with no value or rediculously high recruitment difficulty i like to harvest some organs, well after my junior medic tried to perform major surgery and killed him ruining perfectly good organs, i decided that what i would really like the ability to assign specific roles to my colonists.

for example assigning 2 people to doctor and then being able to assign one as the first aider/medic, and the other as the surgeon.
for cooking, the butcher and the cook.
the ability to assign people as guards as well as guard posts (zones or just a buildable)
dedicated crafters, tailor, sculpter, blacksmith etc.
farming, sowing role and harvesting

assigning someone to one or the other locks that particular work to anyone else assigned to that work section, but can assign as many people to it at a time.

i would LOVE to have this so my skill 5 docxtor STOPS SLAUGHTERING MY ORGAN HARVEST.

also i would like someone to make a mod of this somehow pelase.

edit: also please make organs harvestable for a few hours after death.

There is a mod for this. It's called WorkTab, pretty cool one. Also, you can clready assign diffrent crafters/smithers/tailors etc as they are divided in vanilla worktab.

You can also set the butcher and cook skill levels in the details and set them accordingly, you should always set the butcher skill level to your highest level guys to get more leather and meat. You can do this with any product you build, it is essentially a way to do what you are asking, though it is not the most efficient way it still works great.
