Title: In desperate need of landing filter
Post by: SF4iQue on January 04, 2017, 01:49:25 PM
It would be awesome if we could just pick some options on the globe screen for example i land only on:

Mountanious
Granite Marble
20-30 days growing period
Water on east or north side
Near the settlement
Near the Raiders

So about 2 hours of my gameplay starts with finding that spot...

Yeah i know that its not how game was meant to be played but i am enjoying it this way only...

That is... awfully specific. The mountainous/near-settlements/growing-period is reasonable and probably relatively easy to spot, but specifically granite? You're not willing to take sandstone or even limestone instead? And having your coast in a certain direction is so... specific I'm boggled why you need to get that precise. I can see why limestone might be a (minor) dealbreaker, but a coast on the south...?

I suspect the computer searching for a specific tile like that would take almost as much time as actually generating the world; your best bet is probably to relax your requirements until you can find a suitable spot in 3-5 minutes.

I can understand an ore filter, I personally look for landing zones with only granite and slate because granite makes the strongest stone things and slate is my favorite stone to use as a road (the black color makes it closer to asphalt)

But searching for this many parameters is like...overkill? I cant fault someone for wanting to play on a perfect map but wow

I usually look for granite+limestone, boreal forest, 1100+ rainfall (choose rainfal above average on the world generation screen), average yearly temperature from 0 to -3, mountain, near at least two different pirate factions and a town. By the way, it is not that hard to find such spot. Getting a good starting team is harder. One good and with passion - at least interested - with meelee weapons, two with passion to guns, one with growing 8+ and passion, one with burning passion to medecine, one with passion to crafting and construction. WIth decent perks and good health. I wish there was a filter for team members.

Are you aware of the carefully prepared mod? I know its kinda circumventing the main idea of working with the pawns you get, but with it, you can make sure you have members with the skills you want :)

Water placing makes good sense if you dont use killboxes on extreme randy random permadeath...

The thing is - i get that itch in my back every time i make stone sculptures on map without marble :DD
or when i make walls and its not out of granite

AND THE most awesome thing is that afaik GRANITE+MARBLE and MARBLE+GRANITE is not the same xD  (the 1st type of stone is about 70% of all stone on the map and the second one is about 30%)
