Hello I know this sounds strange but let me explain. I'm sure we've all seen it, that one character ALWAYS screws you over. Whether its the guys who always has a mental break due to drugs, or the guy who just has constant mental breaks at the worst times. We as players can get incredibly angry at these things and I know as a fact i'm not the only one who has killed or arrested one of these colonists. A torture mod would be just something really cool to see. Whether it be.. well I won't make any examples as to not hinder those here who get queasy or such easy. Anyways focus the mod however whether it be on pain, injury, pointless torture, etc. I would just like to see something like this as a mod. Thank you for your time. And besides using luciferium gets old.
making a mod like this would be somewhat easy.. even if it would make a number of modders and players uneasy

I was just think about this last night. I thought it could act like a mood boosting joy activity...
As a game mechanic it could be used to inflict stockholm syndrome on prisoners. In effect, lower their recruit difficulty. Or just be for cathartic joy for punishing the bastards.
Depends on how in-depth this mod is going to be. It could be even a deterrent for other pawns not to break. Like law enforcement. Like you had a mental break lit something on fire and gotten a good beating for it, or humiliated for it... so you will most likely won't do that again...
Depending on traits you could have pawns miss to torturing others, and other who won't.
Yes, this could be used just for the hell of it, or as a way to break prisoners. Maybe combine it with some kind of slavery mod later down the line.
All great ideas. I think the only reason a mod like this hasn't surfaced before is because no one ever took the initiative to bring it up.

Another matter is, if you want this to work you would have to get rid of the dead on downed chance. A mod already does that, might want to add its functionality.
Nevertheless thank you for your input. Also would you link the mod for getting of the dead on downed chance? That way everyone in the thread can access it. Making it easier for anyone who wants to mod this.

Why would such a mod need textures? Just create a "Torture Prisoner" job and add it to the list of possible prisoner interactions under the prisoner tab.
We need textures for certain items like torture racks or torture tools. If your interested in helping I will find out what items need textures.

Yes torture tools... Like whips....
Not sure just yet. I'd have to confirm with the coder on what items exactly would be implemented. From that knowledge work could be set in motion for texture creations.
You could even add a "Sadist" trait that makes it the colonist who has the trait gains a joy boost from torturing prisoners.

Why you just don't take these in google-pictures? Just find more good make them smaller pixels.
You do not have to draw everything from scratch.

Yeah if you've got the mod otherwise ready to go just grab any crummy old arts (or even draw some yourself) if the mod's good enough you'll definitely attract some artsy person to remake all the textures for it
Case in point: Spoonshortage totes macgotes made like 200 fruit textures for the veggie mod just cause she liked the mod but didn't like the arts

I like them! Fantastic work! We just need those other textures. I'll see if there is anything amodchecker (our epic coder) wants to add anything to it but I like what you've got so far! Keep it up and thanks for the help! :)
i would love to see the addition of removing legs,arms,fingers, and toes too, and it should be easy to implement because you can already lose thoose body parts, just need an option too "harvest" them. made an acount just to follow this thread and keeping Watch over this mode because i have been looking for something like this. whould love to see it be made :D
We do plan to implement replaceable and harvest-able body parts such as fingers, toes arms, legs, teeth, etc. Happy to see some active interest and we are working on getting the kinks worked out! The good news is we have a great art designer and a epic code creator as well as a fantastic community to work with!

As for slaves they may or may not be a later feature as this was never really the focus of the mod. To the topic of mood boosters we are thinking of adding a "fear meter" of sorts to corral other colonists into reducing or eliminating mental breaks (i.e. "Bob was tortured for having a mental break over a dirty room. Maybe my room isn't that bad after all."). Something like that is being implemented. As for sexual slaves there is a few issues to face. 1- that would add to this already touchy subject. 2- it may not go over very well with the moderators. We are already in uncharted waters due to this being a subject not previously reviewed before so if I can play it safe in any regard i'm going to do so. We try to accommodate most requests for added content but this may just be something to add later on, or maybe not i'm not really sure. For now I don't think its planned to happen sorry. Keep giving us ideas though! :D

+++ Need more interaction with the colonists!Though some sense from these prisoners, and that only three choices, recruit, sell, or just to keep in a cage and feed. Sense from texture if it is not more than decoration? Need more options, what else functions. We need to focus on this.
We may or may not begin to focus on the slave aspect. I am sad to announce that we will no longer be putting in a fear meter feature. The only way we could do the necessary coding would be with certain assistance to our current coder. Unless further help comes along there will be no fear meter implemented to the mod.

There was a fear meter in the very first alphas release of rimworld, wasnt there? even gallows and torture functions, but Tynan removed them didnt he? I remember reading a gameplay story about this
I remember when you had to beat people in dark rooms surrounded by corpses to "scare" them into joining your colony. I'm glad we're past that point. ;)

Unfortunately, I have lost contact with the main mod creators and am in the process of contacting them again. I'm doing my best to keep this project going but we can only do so much without contact. Just messaged them at the time of this post and am hoping for a swift and positive response. I will try my best to make sure this mod comes out! However, keep in mind this project has changed quite a bit from the original plans due to issues of coding and of communication. If anyone else has any coding experience or art design let me know just in case the mod creators have officially gone dark on me! Don't take this as a for sure position on the mod team as I do not yet know if they will respond to me. If they do we can get the ball rolling again. If not, well you know..
