The lucky point is that almost all of them explode in a chain reaction.

Yeah, it's not like it's unimaginable. Usually it seems to be less than 100, but IIRC counted 166 at worst. This in Randy/intense too. Just hide, and wait when they start to get sleepy, then you can clean up the place.

What year and how many colonists you have?

thats not normal for the second year.
probably a mod or using dev-mode causing to much wealth with items.
i see you got like 25k Silicon from glittertech mod and over 500 Computer parts lol.
i cant see the rest of your items.

Its not randy being randy, its small animals being considered so much a little threat while they can outrun colonists and stunlock them dead by their scratch damage en masse.

Animals that are large and too slow to ever hurt you when kiting properly are few on the other hand... I guess Story tellers grab big chunk of meat and divide it into manhunting food delivery. 8)

There were more than 300.
They exploded.
Only 10-15 corpses left, all other vanish and burn.
I was lucky this time.

It's second settlement, most of items are from the first colony.

I don't use dev-mode for game, it was enabled for some science before. ;-)

every maptile has its own calculation.
most wealth and number of colonists(+some other minor factors) determine the threat scale of each maptile.
1 Computer part is 10 building components. add that up and i cant even see yourt real ressources that have worth, so i would say this is normal due to your items stockpiled.

and yeah just kite them to a small chokepoint and they explode in a chain reaction.
enough meat for 5 years :D

I thought about that colony wealth makes raids and sieges harder and bigger.

No, they exploded and burn to nothing.

Considering the monster pile of wealth you have, yes, this is normal.  Randy is probably thinking that 10 rats = 1 pirate.  How many pirates do you get attacked by in an average raid?

I got 16 wargs in my first winter, less than 2 seasons from start on Randy Intense. Had 5 colonists, with the "colony is poor" mood buff. The path from my colonist's rooms to the freezer was not enclosed.

I just loaded an autosave, that sort of thing is more annoying than challenging. I feel there is a steep incline in difficulty between intense and... whatever is right below intense.

Colony wealth is 4'928'115. Don't know how much is it, never paid attention on that.

Cassandra intense sent 17x Wargs against my four colonists, one refusing to be violent. Luckily Ice Sheet gave me enough time to haul my food inside and wait it out.

edit: 5 million wealth? I never had more than 500k lmao

IT WAS HARD.
Had to change teller to peaceful for almost two seasons, just to haul all these...

Didn't count corpses yet. 31 of mine are dead, 7 alive.

And again. Wealth is 11M thanks to golden statues.

So you achieved ridiculous wealth in a few years, and then my old Alpha 15 colony sits at 2m wealth over 25 years :P

Some ingame unbalances are exploits. It becomes visible over the years.

Deep mining is among them. You mine plasteel or gold, you made statues of it.
They worth 20k-50k each and when you have a hundreds of them - voila! You get all those hundreds-man/animals raids.
Just catch the moment and build enough walls and turrets.

It's probably easier to burn all the bodies and loot than try to collect it.  Especially since you don't have a wealth problem anyway.

Well, actually, you *do* have a wealth problem -- too much of it.  Burning the loot will help.  But you might want to try burning everything else too :)

ALRIGHT PEOPLE, YOU'VE GOT THE MOLOTOVS, T9's, AND DOOMSDAY LAUNCHERS. LET'S BLOW THIS PLACE UP!!!

...and then wealth will still be sitting at like 2-3m

Had similar extreme amount of boomrats in my vanilla only colony. It's just unfair.
In my case they came during hot season and visiting traders around the base. At the beginning i thought "wow free loot", but i was wrong: explosions and fires everywere, they started fighting with my animals as well and got inside the base while my colonists amassed far away to bait them to a fair and safer position.
After 5 reload attempts gone very bad, base razed to the ground. Ragequitted, now i'm scared to launch the game again.

I think part of the game's appeal is that disaster can, in fact, happen due to no direct fault of the player's.  Recovery from that disaster can be a really satisfying achievement.

You have 40,000 extra meat stored in year two? Raids scale to your colony value and I'm guessing you are modding/dev moding to get that much that fast.

Now that you mention it, none of Grax' screens include the ingame timestamp ...

Deep drilling in year two? skipped all the other research or what?

It was all lucky start.
Crashlanding surprised my two (sanguine and iron-willed) survivors with advanced bionic legs and arm/hands and an alpha poly medical bed that doesn't burn among the other furniture, during first orion raid they luckily downed both soldiers and took their exoskeletons, so it greatly improved the further progress.

Nevertheless, i've abandoned that game, 500+ raids made it unplayable slow.
After that orion send 20+ tanks with somewhat 300+ men and i gave up.

Last raid was on the end of fourth year.

Deep drilling started in the second year, maybe.
