Title: [Mod request] Pain medications for A16
Post by: Tanelorn on January 31, 2017, 07:33:12 PM
I saw there were a couple mods that added new medicines to Rimworld but there seem to be none for A16. My game (and I imagine most people's games) desperately needs ways to counter colonists with scars and permanent injuries who suffer one or more debuffs from pain. I have searched for some time and I can't find anything for this other than a super high tech scar healing machine. I'd prefer to not break immersion especially in a tribal game.

If there is a mod that provides such medicines for A16 PLEASE share with me so I can use it! Thanks!

Does beer relieve pain or does it just boost joy?

I was looking for the same yesterday and I ended up using parts from different mods. But maybe one of these mods is what you are looking for.

Vegetable gardens adds in a lot but also on the medic front. It contains a flu medication Flu Ez just like Penoxycyline is for plague etc, a Healthdrink that increases blood flow and suppresses pain and more.
See: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=12934.0

Love's rework of Additional Joy Objects contains and upgrade of a RimPharma drug, Perodyne: Euphoric painkillers. Purchased from Joy Traders and Exotic Traders. It looks like a very effective painkiller when not used to mutch.

The vegetable gardens mod is nice but wasn't at all what i was looking for so I cut out some parts and use that instead it contains the Flu Ez, the healthdrink (mine supresses less pain but added a bit to the blood filtration and new recipe) and the bandagekit. Next I made the Perodyne from AJO craftable still run their mod on top.

If you want I can share you tweaked mashup I made, just on a note I  never actually modded before just dove into the xml files after finding these different parts I wanted to try and combine.

Hope this helped :)

Skullywag has a "Dermal Regenerator" mod that removes scars. It is a nice stand alone earlish to midgame research tech that adds another nice useful item for the hospital.

Nice I'll consider it. Any conflicts with VG? I have an issue with not being able to prescribe my ibuprofen, it doesn't show up as a schedulable drug. I have the code posted in the linked forum post. I'd appreciate any advice on what's the issue.

All the drugs can be scheduled. Its weird that ibuprofen can't, maybe it was created before A15, so doesn't have a drug def xml.
The opiate mod is all new drug, thing and recipe defs so it shouldn't conflict with anything.

No this is as recent as the OP in the thread. I'll investigate drug defs tho.

Like, scars are supposed to be the result of old and poorly treated injuries andare an incentive to give good treatment. But I have scars and they don't constantly hurt. Painkillers good.
