Title: Animals will hibernate in winter
Post by: cotocobr on February 17, 2017, 05:53:04 PM
Around the world, some animals like squirrels and bears have the ability to hibernate to survive situations such as food scarcity without having to leave the region, so why can not this happen in the rimworld?

My suggestion is that when the winter approaches, these specific animals begin to feed at a higher level (they would be accumulating energies) and when winter arrives build a burrow to begin hibernation

How this would work:
* Animals would eat on a larger scale (not required for this detail to be made)
* As soon as winter came they would enter a burrow and stay until it is over, it may work as the Cryptosleep casket
* If the burrow was broken the effect would be the same as opening the Cryptosleep casket
* This could be shown to the player via a notification such as:
'' Some animals will prepare for winter and hibernate ''

* The player could destroy these burrows to hunt the animals, but I do not think it would be cool to wake up a bear that hibernated and is hungry xd  ;D

Nice touch, I like it. Would make the world seem more alive.

Squirrels don't need a burrow, just a tree. They would enter a tree and become undetectable unless you cut down a tree.

I really like this idea, maybe add small caves in mountains for bears though.
