I understand generally why factions that get harmed needs to reduce faction for the player. It is maybe the easiest way to handle a lot of otherwise exploitable situations.
But, spawning "Friendlies" to run and suicide on Infestations and giving the player the blame and faction loss for it is really an unacceptable event.
I shouldn't have to suicide my guys to handle an infestation before some faction does it.
It's so fantastically not gamy so I love it. Almost as unfair as real life.
I'm not that sure you take the blame, unless some of your bullets hit the friendlies

But, you do. If a mad animal, raid, insect, or anything hurts a visiting friendly tribe, you get the blame.
yeah you could use a lot of Yes and No options for friendly events.
would make it feel more that its one owns choices that change the colony then random RNG.
Do you play modded? My vanilla game has a 200 bug infestation that regularly wipes trade caravans and friendly raids, and am yet to see a hit to relations. I rescue the few survivors at night for a +15 boost to relations each. They do suicide runs, bring me free stuff, and our relations are improving.
As long as there isn't a mass insanity event, everything is good!
Yes, I play vanilla. It sounds like you are very familiar with infestations. The reason I know I take a faction hit is because I've seen it several times with all kinds of situations. -- A mad animal, manhunter pack, infestations, friendly fire (even they hit themselves with a grenade) and raids all cause faction loss. It's kind of hard for me to rescue a 3 man melee (shiv, lol) "friendly team" in the middle of what looks like the movie set of "ALIENS (2005?)".
I have also had it happen but it was due to two of them having a fight and one killed the other, I lost 100 faction points and gained 15 back after the other guy I rescued slowly....very slowly walked off of the map, Thankfully even when in the negative they would still trade with me at a whopping 600 gold.
But on the other hand I have had one groups boomalope die in my base and it killed their Mufallo which dropped all their goodies and I lost 0 faction points, they even sat and watched things burn.
So in all fairness it seems to really be a hit and miss, since both times my group wasnt responsible, and one time they were punished whilst the other they wernt.
