Title: Can Rimworld be told where to store savegame data?
Post by: AngleWyrm on April 05, 2017, 01:02:55 PM

(https://s6.postimg.org/g4kv3v8i9/curious.png)On WinXP the save games and mod configurations were stored in a folder who's path looked approximately like so
c:/documents and settings/[me]/localsettings/ludeon/Rimworld by Ludeon Studios

On Windows 7 it looks more like so
c:/Users/[me]/AppData/LocalLow/ludeon/Rimworld by Ludeon Studios

But Windows 7 has a nice little 'my documents' interface that also has a 'save games' folder in it. If possible I'd like to edit something somewhere so that the folder "Rimworld by Ludeon Studios" appears in that 'save games' folder.

Otherwise I'll just link it in.

Check the readme file next to the Rimworld .exe file.

You can set a parameter with the shortcut or .bat file to set where saves are stored.
So you can also have separate shortcuts linking to separate save locations (and mods enabled)

Also note that if you're using the Steam version of RimWorld, you can launch it (and add the savegame parameter) by making a shortcut like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 294100
