Title: diminishing return on beauty items
Post by: BladeOfSharpness on May 31, 2017, 10:42:56 AM
... within a single room, it always me struck as weird that you can put a 30 plants in pots and have beauty raised immensely. A given category of item should provides diminishing return for me.

30 plants is alot of upkeep. I think its rather balanced.

I can see Blade's point, though. Instead of plants (which require upkeep), let's consider, say, statues. In RimWorld, you can fill a room with statues, and the beauty bonuses will stack, potentially to ridiculous levels. In real life, though, if you tried to place too many statues in a room, the attractiveness of the room would actually decrease, as it would be too crowded, and the aesthetic value of the various statues would likely interfere with each other.

So having the game reduce the effective beauty of multiple versions of a particular type of object in a room wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

I dont really think it makes much sense honestly. Its very subjective and the amount of free tiles in a room is tracked. Maybe their can be some sort of reworking but I dont think this reasoning follows through. He just wants things to have reduced value for the sake of reducing it.
