Title: It seems animals are never tended to
Post by: Lightzy on June 06, 2017, 03:49:34 PM
Got a doctor with 1 priority in doctoring. Never ever saved a single animal unless I found it and ordered him to rescue it. It cannot treat it until it falls over near death either. Impossible. Had lots of animals die and a few survive due to the sheer luck of me spotting them being wounded or fallen over somewhere.

Some fixin to do there probably

Potentially dumb question: You have animal beds/sleeping spots that the animals can reach? If you don't, they'll never lay down to be treated, and cannot be treated until they collapse.

And if you have animal sleeping spots, are you sure they are in an area non restricted for your animals ?

Yup, you need at least Animal Sleeping Spots.

If you have those your colonists will rescue a downed animal by taking it to an animal sleeping spot, ONLY once it's there your doctor will treat it.

It's the same principle as that doctors only treat humans in medical beds and not when they are laying on the ground.

One thing that got me for a bit. I thought I had 'animal sleeping spots', but an injured husky refused to lay down. Husky almost died before I realized I had sleeping boxes and not 'spots' or 'beds' built.

Now that you mention it... Has anyone else had trouble with Sleeping boxes? Used to be, they worked just fine as an upgrade to a sleeping spot, but I built some, and the animals never use them, no matter where or how they're placed.

I found out the hard way that sleeping boxes are only meant for small animals like yorkies and cats

That didn't used to be the case; I don't remember which Alpha it was, but I recall seeing huskies and labradors using them. Probably a bug of some sort that was fixed, then.

Sleeping boxes allowability depends of the size of the animal so almost all babies can use them as little animals.

Juvenile dogs are really difficult to differentiate from the adults but have the right size to still be allowed to use them. It's possible it's what cause your trouble.

Working as intended, animals need beds. Thanks for reporting anyway.
