Surprised I didn't find a suggestion like this when doing a search (plausible I overlooked it) but...
Would something (similar to the Dwarf Fortress site-finder system) like being able to search for and isolate landing sites based on specific criteria (Temp min/max, minerals to include or exclude, existence of a highway, biome, terrain, etc) be something plausible (as a low priority granted) to include in a future update?
Sometimes I have a specific set of circumstances in mind for a new colony and it can take a while (if I don't give up) to find that "perfect" landing site that meets what I imagine.
While it doesnt take as long to find sites manually in RW as it does in DF I agree with your idea. I also like to make sure I have granite and marble on my maps. So being able to find these tiles faster would be a plus.

I want a map with granite and marble only.
I'd like this feature a lot.
Highlight world tiles with colors according to the number of search criteria it satisfies.

but why Marble ?
Cement requires Limestone, which is also the better building material and still a flux stone :)
Agreed.
I was actually going to post a sugestion with a way to search for a landing site using coordinates too.
Even though it's not that hard to manually search through coordinates on the map, it would be nice to have that option as well.
It doesn't seem like a high priority to me, but I do spend a lot of time looking for a temperate biome with mountains, a river/stream, and granite/(slate or marble or limestone) , near a road leading to a non-hostile faction. Some way to search for these things would be nice.
What search criteria do you use?
* temperature & fertility
* stone types
* flat/small hills/large hills/mountains
* seashore/river/road
* range to nearby villages

Distance to different locations could be a bad can of worms if you consider traveltimes,
but quite easy if you define a radius ..
I would add
*Biome Type
*Length of the growing period
and I can't think of anything else.
