I'm only a little curious about everyone's favorite WEAPONS.
The assault rifle seems to have the best balance between range and damage. Long enough range for attacking a siege camp, and enough bullets to fill a killbox.

Methinks that is the "Rifle" option in the poll.
For Vanilla it is the Shotgun.

Just to be clear here, I mean guns that you have a special place for in your heart. I don't mean guns that preform the best, I mean guns that you love for one reason or another (Even if they don't preform well in other areas.)
Still missing the charge rifle, minigun, rocket launchers and probably more... Besides, why does the title say "weapon" and the post say "gun"?
I hope this doesn't get me put on a list somewhere, but I love IEDs. If your mature colony isn't using a whole pile of them in the high traffic approaches to your base, you're missing out! Sometimes you can turn away entire raids before a single shot is fired and feelings start to get hurt.
"A special place for in my heart"? That would be for the wooden log. Takes down moody colonists *fast*.

Minigun gets my vote. An underrated mid-late game weapon for certain. AR is way up there for its versatility too.
In terms of general use, the assault rifle.

Knew I missed a spot.
I gotta say traps. No other weapon, not even the fearsome minigun, has claimed the lives of so many friendlies in my games.
Heavy SMG's a great early-game weapon, Gladius is a great weapon for low levels, bolt-action rifle's a nice long-range weapon which shoots often, great bow for tribal runs, minigun's great for crowd control, rocket launchers are great for kicking ass michael bay style.
I always try to give everyone assault rifles because they are so awesome. Only my shock troopers for raids get charge rifles and power armor.
I voted assault rifles, but connect favorite to loved weapon.
Because i love mortars.

Step 3: Bomb the hell out of it.

In A17 the are better and the new shell production is okay. I can produce ammunition with corn :D
You didnt recive damage. And ... many shells may hit the ground. But when one shell hits.... there is hell in shell.
