Three suggestions:
- During autumn, some mushrooms now appear near trees but they only live three days.
Players have to harvest them if they want to benefit.
- A new event : "A huge herd of (any sociable herbivorous animals) travel across the area.
You can hunt them but beware of the possible revenge"
- A lightning rod taking lightings in a area and protecting it.
Should be combined with a rework of lightning procedure which should priority target trees, roofs, and pawns as in the real world.
What use would mushrooms have over any other plant the player can grow any other time? If anything, they would grow inside mountains in the dark.
One could consider any group of animals already doing this, new ones come in as you hunt off the rest. Manhunter packs already exist to handle the danger aspect.
This is in the frequent suggestions topic already because people suggest it constantly.
Muschrooms : for example wood-eater mushrooms destroying trees if you don't harvest them.
It woud be a positive-negative event because it will give you some food if you deal with it and a penalty if you don't do anything.
Huge herd : I speak about a really huge one which can eat all the grass of the map before leaving if you don't afford it. Manhunter pack don't eat.
If you don't have straw left to feed your animals, you will be in a bad situation.
Carnivorous huge herd : Similarly, a Huge herd of carnivorous animals hunting all the animals of the map and staying on the map without attacking humans but preventing animals to come back safely. They will attack you only if you provoke them.
It will force you to go out of your base to deal with them if hunting animals is required for your food supplying.
Lightning rod : maybe it is frequently suggested because it's relatively easy to add and not a bad idea at all
So, immobile versions of beavers.
You can just kill the animals for food, problem solved. This would actually help the player a LOT since they can be killed before they eat everything.
An interesting twist on the manhunter pack, this might actually be fun.
Not as easy as you think, but the point is that if its on the list then dont bother suggesting it, we know about it already.
Ok, so in conclusion, if I summarize, the most interesting of my proposed events is this one :
Carnivorous huge herd : A huge herd of carnivorous animals hunting all the animals of the map and staying on the map without attacking humans but preventing animals to come back safely. They will attack you only if you provoke them.
It will force you to go out of your base to deal with them if hunting animals is required for your food supplying.
Thank you for your advices, that was interesting and you have a net skill to point the failing.
I'm going to change the name of the topic to match your opinion. You have convinced me.

I think this is the first time I have ever seen someone say this on the internet...

It is quite the rarity, isn't it? People being reasonable and civilised on the internet...
I read "Nerd" the first time I skimmed the topic .. the idea made me chuckle.
The other suggestions :
I like the idea of greater herds or packs of carnivores .. translating into wolves or wargs .. or lions .. that decimate the wild animals on the map, it is the more reasonable manhunter event .. the just hunt everything .. and when all animals are gone .. who is left ?
I also liked the idea of the mushrooms, that spawn on trees as a kind of tree-plague .. how about the twist, that they are not edible but in fact are poisonous to animals that eat them ? ( especially those that eat trees and take a lot of work to tame )
Even the huge herd sounded good to me .. because it makes more sense than the migration event where a lot of animals just trample through your map .. and the suggestion to just kill them can cut in both directions when a herd of 200 muffalos becomes enraged .. now you know how a manhunter event starts ..

I propose to let them be poisonous when raw but edible once cooked to add a positive impact to this event.
I am still hung up on the carnivourus Nerd ...
a huge hungry Nerd has entered the area. Keep it away from your food stockpile ..

Create a mod with them ^^ (I am almost sure they will never appear in the vanilla version)

It has set up a computer in a dark room and will begin draining your power. Deconstruct the roof above it to drive it off.

More realistically, based on your idea, what do you think about a crashed ship which drains your power ?
It would be a variation of the poison or psychic ship.

I like that Idea, Mechanoids should do that .. tap into your power grid to power some evil machine.
Which also gives me a new Idea to cheese enemy bases .. connect some power hungry structures to their grid and suck them dry.

I see a problem with this idea. If the number of ennemies is proportionnal with the time elapsed since the ship crash, if you attacked it directly, you will only have to afford a few opponents.
My original idea was simplier to let it become more greedy in electricity.
It could have different levels of consumption, as the psychic ship has different levels.

It could lead to an iron and AI core farm if exploited. It's problematic because of possible exploits.
Why not launch a mechanoid raid from the crashed ship each time it has stored enough energy ?
Who said anything about it
a.) dropping AI cores
b.) not spawning new Mechanoids
c.) being a boring copy of something that allready exists.

Actually, you are right, it's not forced to drop AI core when destroyed or even to drop anything.
So how do you propose to let it defend itself if you don't want to see mechanoids spawn ?
