provide an interface for displaying alerts on certain events.
allow to pause / slow game on specific events (like raid for example).
use story:
a pawn gets hunted by some wild animal. pawn bar displays fleeing icon but user doesn't notice until pawn gets injured (too late). pause game on pawn fleeing could prevent this kind of frustrating situations.
