Title: Research topics
Post by: SirAardvark on October 24, 2013, 04:56:57 PM
Hi all,
I noticed that there are very few research topics in-game. I assume that this is because it's in pre-alpha, and more will be added later. For the time being, what kind of research topics would you guys like to see in Rimworld? I personally like the idea of research trees. For example, you could have weapons, food, upgrades, etc. with their own skill trees, which you then further develop. The game really should make sure there are tons of research topics, so that you get the feeling of progression without grinding for minerals to make new stuff.

I've loved the 'idea' of Archaeology in games.

But World of Warcraft did it so appallingly, that it felt more of a grind than killing boars.

If Archaeology was buried secrets, that you kept stumbling upon as you got further into the mine, which allowed you to upgrade lots of normal items along the way. That could be interesting.
