I'm surprised this isn't a mod yet, as Google search turns up just a bunch of Reddit and Steam Discussion pages asking if this is a vanilla feature yet.
Is it possible to make a mod with storage containers that allow you to limit the capacity of whatever is inside? Obviously, this would be insanely useful for feeding troughs for animal farms. Maybe this is only an issue for people who use stack size increase mods, but I'm surprised none of those mods include this feature.
Most other container mods working with the stacksize limit too.
When you use stackxxl the limit of these container would raise too.
You should switch from stackxxl to container mods.
Try out Extended storage

I think he's asking for a mod which allow you to restrict the maximum amount of a thing that can be stored in each individual container. I don't think Extended Storage permits that, does it?
No it doesn't.
Thats why i suggest he should push XXL into the trash, and use storage mods.
Ofcourse if someone want to mod such kind of container with a fixed holding count, maybe adjustable with mod options feel free to do it.
But currently nothing exist so far (at the forum).
I see what you are saying. It would probably be pretty easy to cut and paste an extended storage pallet, give it new art, and call it a feed box, with a static low-value storage limit size.
But how do you limit the feed box not to stack up a full stack ?
Can you set a stacksize limit with XML ?
Extended storage capacities are set in its XML files, you can edit them to reduce the capacity. I don't know if you can reduce the capacity below one stack, but probably not, since the tile is a valid space for the item...
Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I might check out the Storage mod, but as far as my question I am indeed looking to see if a mod exists where a container can max out at less than a full stack.
