Yea, RW just reached a Platinum status with 1 million copies sold:

Total success.
It's the best game I've ever played.
So in 5 years tynan grossed roughly $30 million. I'm guessing his costs paid to the other team members plus steams cut reduces it down by 10 mil. So, in other words, his family is set for life
Bravo my friend, bravo. I hope you don't call it quits after this and retire to some sandy beach just yet. I hope you have many more masterpieces coming out.
You deserve every penny of it.
Congratulations Tynan! :)
This serves as a giant middle finger to all of the publishers that screw over devs. They can't help but squeeze just another penny out of an IP and they have to ruin everything they touch. Can you blame them, though? They answer to the hivemind of shareholders. Works of art can't be rushed. And that's the issue, games really can be works of art, but then you have the suits who turn your work of art into a commodity. Things get rushed. Deadlines have to be met. People have to get paid. The damn thing never even stood a chance.
They don't care though. They'll stop kicking that horse when it stop shitting mountains of gold. Do it all again next year to a whole new batch of suckers.
Congratulations! This is well deserved and I hope there will be even many more sales with the 1.0 release! :)
Now I feel slightly less bad for piggy-backing off of my friend's copy thanks to Steam Family share. I get my karma, though. It kicks you off five minutes after the library's owner plays one of their games, which means I'm usually in the middle of some grand design when I see "[Your Friend] is now playing Factorio. You have five minutes."
