So, starting a 1.0 new game with crash-land scenario I came up with a idea for my settlers draft, I already had a noblewomen and a bodyguard so i thought in diplomatic mission gone astray. For the third settler I tried to get one of the diplomatic backstories I remembered existed in the prepare carefully list(upright diplomat, envoy of the stars, planetary diplomat). But after half an hour of trying unstop they haven't come up, not even once...
Are they not possible in the crash-land scenario or am I just unlucky?
It should be available, but there are tons and tons of backgrounds so you could be clicking for a while. Or wait for official release and Prepare Carefully update.
There is an updated Prepare Carefully on GitHub... so uh, use that?

Nice! Did not know that. I looked for it only at the steam workshops....
There is about twice as many mods updated outside Steam. Devs use github to release 1.0 versions while their main mod (everyone is subscribed to) stays B18 in the workshop, so when 1.0 officially hits and everyone is updated, they also update the mod in the workshop and players don't have to sort out their mods.
