Title: Guard Towers
Post by: cactusmeat on July 21, 2018, 08:56:29 PM
Guard towers should exist. I know it would be hard to implement and balance embrasures, castle walls etc, so I offer this suggestion.
I'm thinking just basic guard towers, stairs that lead up to an area protected on 3 sides by sandbags or something. This would be achievable with just doors and walls so to make it unique:

So you want the ability to have a colonist or a turret protected by sandbags with a bonus chance to hit the enemies?

Have you tried protecting a colonist or turret with sandbags and promptly removing the cover from the area in front of the range of the protected gunner?

I don't mean to come off as harsh, it's just that guard towers have been brought up many times before, and have been shot down many times before. Plus, their purpose has already been achieved in-game by what you already brought up. If you want it more unique, best I could do is to recommend maybe getting a mod for more turrets or cover.

The reason I still want to support guard towers though is a slightly earlier warning of raids. That also has been brought up many times, too.
